Domino question - not sure if this has been answered

Went to a festool dealers show event on Thursday as I am interested in buying a Domino. The Sales Associated ( whom I know - I buy lots of tools) came over to me when I was looking at the Domino and said that I should I wait - and he came back with supposedly the new updated domino. Instead of the retractable pins on the face - it had black retractable triangular plastic pieces. He mentioned that it was replaced because the pins had "Stuck" issues and these new ones were easier to maintain. When talking to the Festool Rep he mentioned unlike the "pins" that could be used for a reference ( ie- drill one mortise and use the pin as a guide to drill the next by inserting the pin in the mortise just drilled) - the new style could not or would not fit in the mortise and the only way to reference is with the accessory that comes w/ the system.
SO - which is a better system and does anyone who has used the old or new domino have any recommendation Don't want to spend so much $$$ and have issues or wish I would of got the "other one " instead.
Thanks

Colyn,
We transitioned to the "new" Domino last July. I suspect you would have trouble finding a dealer that has the Domino with pins in stock. As for the great flap vs. pin debate:

If you can still get the old model with the pins you should seriously consider buying one. I have the older version and much prefer the versatility not to mention non festool accessories that you can buy to fit the pins such as

Do a search and you will find other opinions.

They have both in stock - the one on display is the "old" style.
