I am really considering spray painting all my Festool's white.
They get soooo hot out in the sun that you just about can't hang onto them.
My Domino and Drills are a prime example. Yes, I have bought the spray paint already.

Two weeks ago I was building a wood base for my shed. Was a very sunny hot day. My T12 got so hot laying in the grass that I had to put it in the shade for a while so that I could bare to hold it. Probably not as much a problem up North but it gets a tad warm here in Lousyanna. It sure got me to thinking about the color just like you.

Store them in the cooler with your beer. Just make sure you look at what you're grabbing after a hard days work.
Hopefully you'll find them in the snow, during the winter.

I would be hesitant about the concept of painting your FESTOOLS. For example what would happen if some paint found its way into the inner workings of you tool? When being used how long would the paint last before it started chipping and flaking away and again possibly getting into the inside of the tool. As far as I know these tools are not painted at all. Rather the color of the tool is impregnated during the molding process. This prevents the above mentioned issues. Maybe a correspondence to Festool about the idea of HOT CLIMATE tool coloring could interest them. In other words as they make the tool mold in say white in place of the darker color. Of course this will not happen overnight or maybe never. How about making a tool shade area and set the tools under that. The shade could be made quickly and this would obviate the need for painting your FESTOOLS. Just my  two cents worth! |

If I work outside I make certain I have some shade - for me and for anything I'm using. It gets hot in Oz. I've never found myself leaving tools in the hot sun for a period that lets it get too hot to handle comfortably.
I'd never attempt painting the surface of a hand tool of any kind.

That's why Systainers are a light color. You know how much time it would wast putting them back in the case every time you set them down? I got no qualms taking a can of white paint to my drills or my domino. |
