Dust extractor switching - or not
« on: August 18, 2017, 09:29 AM »
I asked this in another thread and got no response do I'm creating a new topic.

The question or issue is this:

Some CT units have an energized socket while in manual mode.   This is in contradiction to the online manuals and the supplemental manual too.

My question is whether this is a manuf. error or is now the norm.

If the norm , is it across all models ?  And at what point was this changed -  dates from which the change was implemented.

Yes, there was a fairly recent change to this. The US product team will work to get better details from HQ next week. That's all that I know at the moment.

@TylerC[poke]. it's been a month now since the detailed formal request and longer than that from an affiliated discussion about the new CT switching setup.

Does the U.S. Product Team just have no clue about what they are doing, or can they simply not be bothered with a request for information about a fairly significant change to their product ?

Or is this a case where the German Meisters feel the subsidiaries should be treated like mushrooms ?

I already know you don't have the answer to any of these questions, but I'd like one to what you think is a reasonable timeframe for an answer to my original questions for product information .

I will have to go back and check but I thought my CT36 tool socket worked (is energized) when the selector switch is in manual.

I will check later today. I bought my CT36 in December 2012 so if I am remembering correctly then it's been that way for a while, at least mine has.

This change was based on a switch in the certification scheme (from CSA to MET). The manufacturing change was made toward the end of last year, and the updated CTs started shipping to dealers a few months ago.
