What is the right type of grease for the MFT adjustable foot?

Seth,
My suggestion is to clean off all of the old grease from both parts and coat them with inexpensive wheel bearing grease. It's a thick enough grease that the foot won't fall off, yet still allow the foot to turn. The foot doesn't need any special grease since it's not under pressure or extreme conditions.

I like PARK brand bearing grease -- made for bicycles and it is either a blue or green color to boot.

Phil Wood grease is also water proof and will not wash out even under high pressure. Phil is a great guy and now lives 14 miles from the farm I grew up on. I use his grease for many things. Cool to hear that! I'm still running a set of Phil hubs on a set of wheels I built in the early '90s on a town bike of mine. His products have always represented the highest quality and craftsmanship. Btw, sorry for the thread drift! |

Okay that makes sense. WLG was what was used in bike wheel hubs prior to Phil Woods recipe advances. WLG is cheaper than Phil's stuff. Save the money. Bike bearing run much faster and hotter than any MFT adjustable leg... so a bit of over kill. Cheers, Steve |
