OF1010 guide rail accessories
« on: September 16, 2012, 10:24 PM »
Hi
Recently I bought a second hand OF1010 router. I did nnot come with any guide rail adapter, just the parallel fence with its two long pins. I then go the Extension table TV-1000 thinking it would double up as the extension and the guide for the rail. I took of the base of it leaviing the guide but its rather loos on the rail. Is there a way to get this tight so there is no slop when moving it along the rail? Or do I need to buy the Guide Rail adapter FS-OF 1000? On the website they look identical (except of course for the additional base on the TV-OF1000.

Oh my god, thats shocking typing, excuse my typos, in the above.
Here's the attachment I have currently which I have removed its base so the attachment can fit in the guide rail, but its so loose and sloppy with no visible means to adjust it.

The guide-rail adapter for the OF1010 uses a bolt threaded through a captive nut to apply pressure to the back side of the guide-rail slot.  Otherwise, as you have noted, these two parts look identical.  Here's a quick shot of the underside of the guide-rail adapter where you can see the bolt threaed through the captive nut with the end of the bolt pushing on the back wall of the slot.

Aha, penny drops now. I'll see what I can put in there to do the job, (not sure if Festool even sells those small screws and retaining nuts separately). I'm sure it should be easy to find something that will fit there, great. Thank you for the reply and your time to take the photo etc, it's so appreciated.

regards
Kerry

I'm guessing on the sizes, but I think you will want two (2) 3mm x 12mm screws and two (2) 3mm hex nuts.  The hex nuts are held captive by the molded base.

The TV - OF 1000 shares some common parts with the Guide Stop, but lacks the adjustment screws for tensioning on the guide rail.  Looking at one here it seems that it has the nuts in place to do that, but lacks the screws.  The Ekat indicates the parts as 200715 (which seems to be there already) and 228568 (screw M4 x 12) as needed for the tensioning mechanism for the guide rail.

Adding those screws (and nuts if need be) should fix you up for using with a guide rail.

Yep, I had a look at it did indeed already have the nuts in place, so I found a couple of screws that fitted sweet and tested it. All good now.
Thanks again, great helpful advice, spot on.

cheers

Ha, was just looking at doing that same thing and found this thread! Thought I had an original idea. Shame on me. Good to know how it can be done though.
