S 75/4 FSG blade does not fit in Carvex PSB 420 EBQ
« on: January 04, 2017, 11:28 AM »
I am new to Festool and woodworking but am in the silver hair population (over 60).  This Christmas I purchased for myself the FESTOOL CARVEX PSB 420 EBQ JIG SAW - D-HANDLE.  In reviewing the YouTube video as well as website - still having issues with installing the blades that came with the Jig Saw.  The S 75/4 K (.60 thick) goes easily into the jig saw but the S 75/4 FSG (.68 thick) does not.  It butt up to the bayonet stub (photo attached).  Am I doing something wrong are is my saw broke?

We'll try to help you out with this. Would you mind taking a picture of the full blade? That will help us to know what exactly we're working with.

The S 75/4 FSG is .70 thick compared to S 75/4 K that only .52 thick

I think you mean 0.07". My Carvex FSG 75/4 blade is the same and fits in my jigsaw fine.

Assume that you have a pack of them. Have you tried the other blades from the pack?

Yes, you correct it .07 not .70.  No.  It the two blades that came with the jig saw.

Is there suppose to be that much difference in thickness between the blades .057 vs .070?

0.055 on my S 75/4 K

0.043 on my HS 60/1.2 bi, which is the thinnest of the Festool blades that I have.

I actually had my 75/4 FSG blade in my jigsaw and removed it to measure its thickness. So, it does fit.

Maybe something wrong internally with the jigsaw?

I should 'subject' this post as "I should have followed direction and called Festool 1-888 number first". When I spoke with the technician he recommended - first put in the thinner blade then eject it and then with a pair of pliers put in the thicker blade -- that WORKED!

Though I do think there needs to be a tool (scabbard)  to use to insert the blades.  My concern with pliers is accidentally putting to much side pressure resulting in the blade getting bent.

Thanks for all your help.
