Special Limited Edition Kits
« on: February 22, 2018, 06:20 PM »
Since Ive been back in the states from the UK , I noticed that Festool USA doesn't really "do" limited edition specialize kits.

Yea they are a bit pricey as they are short term limited kit. A good example is the one I bought at the D&M show near London a few years back. it was made (put together) for timber framing I bought to use for outdoor projects , gate installs, raised planters etc. I attached a photo of the one Im talking about.

The only one I knew of was the first aid kit which was pretty kool. There is one with bench dogs and clamps etc. I just havent seen any that festool USA has come up with.

Could even come up some Limited edition Kits to sell at the road shows for example.

That is a pretty cool set.  I especially like the long boring bits.  Were they sized in metric?

I think they were made by Wera same with the socket set.

This is what Im talking about why dont festool USA put together some nice limited edition kits.

The kits are not cheap by any means but nothing festool is.

Nice kit! It looks to me that the included hand driver is their newer version that doesn't take the centrotec chuck. If that's the case, then why does the kit also include two centrotec chucks?   [huh]

I like that there are two full levels in your kit, as opposed to an early centrotec kit from years ago that had half of the lower level unused and unusable.

It is useful isn't it. But Festool USA doesnt (to my knowledge) offer any specific kits like it.

Im hoping Festool will monitor this thread.

Just for giggles, what specific kits would ya'll like to have festool make?

For me is would be cabinet making that would have specific tools for assembly, both counter sinks and the 5mm centering bit would be a must, add a folding rule and tape centrotc screw driver handle with the bits used for installing euro hinges and drawer slides also would be a plus.

How about a electrical wiring install kit Wera makes some nice insulated screw drivers, some strippers and maybe have a stubby auger bit for drilling into studs to run cable, folding rule and tape measure.

What would you like to see or recommend?

Veritas makes some special kits that are include a variety of tools for particular purposes.

I'm going to make some of my own kit for the Shapton Glass stone collection I have.  Veritas might be able to get some traction with special kit inserts for things like chisels.  They have some plane combo deals that might benefit from a systainer as well.  But I think they are trying to target their systainer kits at people who have to take the tools on site.

Festool makes different sets all the time just none of them is a permanent item.
The recent one was Centrotec 99-piece Assembly kit (497628). If you are in US its available on e-bay.

Wow that might be a good accompaniment to my new refurbished CXS, but it's $510!!  Can anyone tell me if it's worth it?

The kit is certainly cheaper than buying all of its parts separately.

That all parts are available as spares individually, especially 'consumables' like bits.

Unfortunately, the drill bits in the 201312 US kit are not available as spare parts, so if you lose one or break one you’re toast.   [crying]

Same goes for the extended square drive bits.   [mad]

The 89 piece is a pretty great kit.  There still may be one or two NOS kits out there... I just found one in NH a couple of weeks ago after an exhaustive search online.  It was quite the effort but they finally agreed to send it to me (they don't normally ship) and I've used it everyday since.
