SYS VAC SYSTEM
« on: October 19, 2017, 06:23 PM »
Will probably get one of the complete sets by end of year. (10021001 - VAC-PMP w/sys1/2 + accessories heads)

Looking in the ekat site it does not look like the pump unit is available as a replacement when the warranty ends and the user wants to do the replacement. The parts that go in each end are available, but the pump itself is not.

Is that something that will never be available as a replacement part and just not yet?

Thanks. Rob

Yes that is the vac system I am talking about. I am just looking for the actual vac pump inside the enclosure. The diagram breaks down all the parts that make up this pump and all the pieces are available but the actual pump motor itself on ekat.

I’d refer this inquiry to @TylerC he’d have the straight skinny for you.

I'll try to get an answer for you on this by the end of the day. My assumption is that — given that it isn't marked in the diagram on the EKAT — it's not available as a spare part, but I'll get confirmation.

The motor for the VAC SYS vacuum pump (highlighted in yellow in the included image) is not available as a spare part.

As to the question of whether it will become available in the future, anything is possible, but there are not currently plans for this.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So if the pump fails under warranty, not a problem, but it if fails out of warranty, most likely the cost of sending it in for repair/replacement will equal/exceed the cost of a new unit.

I pretty sure because of the newness of the product you have not had any come in for repair/replacement of the motor, so you would not have an order of magnitude of the out of warranty repair cost for the pump motor?

I just need to figure that into the equation and buy a backup at some point.

Once you start using these things on a daily basis and become dependent on them, it becomes difficult to be without.

Thanks.

Given my experience with vacuum pumps: the motors itself are the least likely part to fail, I don't worry about them at all.

Chances of motor failure should be pretty slim, I've been using a used, surplus HVAC pump for more than 20 years.
