Nick,
Nice video. I recently got the tradesman/ installer kit and was able to make it all fit. Watching your video confirmed I did it right because I saw your systainer front edge bows as did mine.
One question I have, is the systainer handle strong enough to lift a CT26 ? Should I break it down to load into the truck or carry up stairs ? Mine was purchased for site work. (I will double post at "Ask Festool")

Is it strong enough? I would say yes. I carry my CT 22 by the handle of the compact cleaning set on top of it when I take it out to the garage to vacuum the vehicles.

Is it recommended? Not sure. We don't have any specifications on weight limits.

I do not know how much weight the handle can withstand. But it takes a lot of force to remove them in the folded down position that allows removal. In the carry position I think it would take more than anyone would want to try to carry.

If by chance it did fail, is this a warranty item?
Anyone want to sacrifice a systainer to find the limit and/or warranty? Smiley

I've carried my CTL22 around many times by the handle of an attached systainer, the handle held up just fine.

I've carried ctl 36 [full] with systainer.I've often wondered about the little green tabs on the ctl but never thought about the systainer handle.I'd be interested to know of any specifications from Festool.

Looking at pictures in my 2007 and 2008/2009 catalogue, they do not show any pictures of the CT's being carried with a sys attached to the top, but only of the CT unit being carried solo.

I just tried my own out carrying it with a sys on top, and it doesn't seem to be precarious in any way.

I have a systainer 5 which holds my Paslode first fix gun a few nails gas 2x batteries and charger AND Dewalt second fix gun few nails 3x 18v batteries and charger!  Well that systainer ALONE is heavy!  Well I have had it attached to my CT22!  The reason because the weight! I can roll the systainer around on my CT22 to the job but some times it needs lifting over things or up some steps so instead of unclipping it I just lift the hole lot and the handle has held fine no signs of plastic turning white under strain.

Good point Nigel.  Those are probably the weak link in the whole idea.  If the green tabs fail, the CT drops.

I do the same as jmb and lift it over thresholds , etc.

For me it's not an issue, because at my age and after 25 years of weightlifting, my shoulder sends signs of impending failure long before the handle will....

Video test forth coming. Stay tuned.... Video test, sorry about the bad quality video.  I pause for a second when I hear something come loose in the router bit Systainer.  I know you guys would ask so I did the test with both a classic and a T-Loc.  I weighed the vac, it came in at 53 lbs, not including the Sys.  I didn't do any prior testing so I was sweating the new T-Loc little. Bite your tongue

Sys vac test

Keep in mind that the  CT latches  will only ever have to hold the weight of the CT. No matter how much is stacked on top.  Might seem obvious but sometimes the mind plays tricks....

Same goes for the rolling caster boards with the little rubber tabs (spangummi  Smile ) .

Yes, they flex.  Remember that 53 lbs (24.09 kilos) bouncing and everything held.

You must have about 13 pound in your bag, Brice. The unit weighs a little less than 40 lbs.

Yes but the Flex is FAR FAR less with the classic in the middle than it is with the T-loc on the size! Because the 4 points on the Classic systainers are closer to the handle than the 3 points on the T lock so AND the handle points are on the OUT side of the triangle if they where inline with the 3 points then their would be far less flexing.

Also like mentioned above the green latches on the CT will hold because they will never be holding any more weight than the CT its self.    Different story with the handle though because a larger systainer with heavier stuff inside does add including the CT on the handle thats why I said I have used my large systainer many of times with all the heavy nails guns inside and had no problem with the handle and even then the classic flexes less than Brice's T-loc demo bouncing it in the air and thats only a small light T-loc so it only has the weight of the CT

The green latches on the CT will be subjected to more loading stress the more weight is added above the CT in systainers while lifting the whole mass.  The weight of the CT itself is not the only factor.

I think this is right, I believe it is.

I was told the handle will support up to 400 pounds.

I was told the latches will give out at 200 pounds.

I am not going to carry 200 pounds.

My cleaning kit is pretty much permanently stored on my 22.

You can carry the vac by the tradesman set no problem.

I wouldn't suggest carrying it like that if you have to go up more then a few steps though.

I have a Sys 1 with the bottom cut out attached to the top of the hose garage on my 22. This allows me to keep the cleaning kit handles, rags, sponges, etc in a sort of permanent place readily available. Whether the bag is empty or full I've carried the whole thing by the Sys handle repeatedly, no problems.

I meant it is kind of awkward carrying the CT with a sys 4 on top up a couple flights of stairs.  You really have to lift it pretty high.

It's like 5 mm for the classic and 35 mm for the T-loc. In your anology that's more like ... potato, potaaaaaaato....

People can keep on telling me the lid can hold the weight, but for me, seeing such flex in a systainer lid makes the whole look and feel flimsy. An empty systainer starts at a cost of 53 euro making it the most expensive type of plastic box I can think of, so you'd better get some quality.

Indeed not true. The weigth of the CT itself is the only factor because that's all the weight the latches have to hold.

But I'm pretty sure the latches were not intended to hold the weight of the CT while it's been carried around, they're only there to hold a systainer in place while the CT properly rests on the floor.
