Can drywall be mudded well to MDF? There is a transition where we need to run a drywall ceiling into an MDF face - curious if anybody has tried this.

Thanks a bunch

My guess is that a crack will develop at the joint.  Different expansion contraction rates.  Not knowing the exact application I would suggest that you look to see if a j bead or other transition joint would work to allow for the movement.

The tools in my truck were talking the other day.  The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy.  They also were in the minority.  Their complaint:  They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in.  I guess the truth hurts.

I cannot reasonably imagine it working and not cracking in short time. I would also recommend a transition joint instead. A drywall endbead, a run of 1 1/8" stop moulding as a detail, etc. painted the same color. This would stop any call backs.
If I had to try to mud it ... mesh tape, structolite base finished with DB and mud.
