Why not use good ole cheap white melamine. Glue wont stick to it and it is disposable.

Because Trupan is totally different in its characteristics. If I set up my vac system on one side of the sheet I can pull through the Trupan and set anything on that sheet of Trupan and you will not be able to pull it off. The Trupan becomes one giant vacuum clamp, bleeder board in one.
If you take a regular shop vac and hold it on one side of the Trupan you can feel the suction coming through the other side. It is 60% lighter than any other MDF, but only 15% less dense. A 95% less poisonous adhesive is used and you can even cut the stuff without a mask(I wouldn't).
Trupan is just a totally differnt animal. For speakers it is revered for its weight reduction. Imagine shaving off 100 lbs in a little car when adding some 18" subs using the same size box, plus it is as strong as a regular MDF.
Air flows though the Trupan like water through a sponge nothing else is like it and unless it is the Trupan brand it is not the same. They make it in one place and use a certain Pine only to make it. It is actually considered a green material.
Again the vacuum characteristics are what I am after. Nothing else has this characteristic. Having one sheet set up in my MFT that I can just set pieces on and then route is what I am after. No clamps, I step on a switch the board becomes a big vacuum clamp. Set on the template, then the piece of wood to cut on top of that, cut around the template with a template guide and done. Press the foot switch again the vac stops and on to the next set of pieces. I can cut out tons of pieces fast this way never having to touch a clamp.
I can also place a piece of wood on the Trupan and route it out using the Trupan bleeder board as the backer board, cutting right into the Trupan slightly. No worrying about cutting through the piece, the vac hoses or puck clamps. If I cut through a piece with my current set up I would lose suction.
