I have some DIY ones out of card stock with marker on them, but half the time they pop out.
Is there any special lamination deal? Or just bring them in and the lamination is standard?
Or do I need to say some specific "???" lamination (like heavy duty, or 10#)?

I've been printing them on reasonable quality office paper, then using 3 or 5mm heat laminating pouches with an electric laminator - I think I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Thermal-Laminator-Roller-TL906/dp/B00CLV8ZIU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1460893158&sr=8-5&keywords=scotch+laminator

And then just the business card size pouches:

http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Thermal-Laminating-Pouches-TP5900-20/dp/B0018NDH4Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1460893279&sr=8-5&keywords=3m+laminator+pouch

I trim them to size, and they work fine.

Has anyone seen or used the guy on YouTube who prints them on hard plastic cards?

It took a while to find the card stock I wanted to use for this. I called around and looked online to order plastic cards, but they all wanted to do large runs of a single image. I looked for printable plastic but mostly those were for laser printers, or transparencies for projectors and too flimsy.

Eventually I looked up "waterproof paper" and found my solution. I got a 10 pack of this: Inkjet Teslin Synthetic Paper - 10 Sheets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004PX7ZTC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_CZk4wb1GET0VW

I printed these in my inkjet printer on Matte Photo Paper setting.

After a few months of not-gentle usage, they're holding up great, wet and dry.

Your  Welcome Kevin... if there is anythiing you would like made up let me know and I'll do it.

I've also re-done the Fein labels and also added a corded version.

In regards to personal details or Business details i choose to keep that off these labels, as on the left side of my systainers i insert one of my business cards, the right and sides are for the labels.

(Attachment Link)

Superbe !!

I'm impressive, it's really pretty, i think i will do it for my systainer  8) 8)

Hi All,
So I gave making labels a try and it was not that bad once I figured it out.  Here is a label that I am going to use on my systainers as an "Owner" ID label.

I've been working on reorganizing my shop / Systainers - realized I had a bunch of Systainer labels to make and wasn't thrilled with my method of printing custom labels (posted above, basically printing on paper, trimming, laminating, then trimming again to fit...too time consuming and imperfect).

I found this thread:  http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/my-systainer-label-printing-process/ (complete credit to @dbroere ) and wanted to point that thread out here...

I purchased a Canon MG7720 (about $110 on Amazon), the 'J tray' for the Canon inkjects ($18 on Amazon), and a package of 100 PVC CR80 cards (~$14 for the 100...0.14 each).

I've since been converting my original Photoshop images to the CR80 format - and I have to tell you this is absolutely the way to go if you're willing to spend the money.

They look ABSOLUTELY professional, and are a definite time saver - I print them directly from Photoshop onto the PVC card and they are ready to go (ok, I let them dry for a little bit).

I'm uploading my converted 'J tray' / PVC card Photoshop files to my Dropbox account; I'm not converting them to PDF as the formatting has to be exact and I'm not confident it will be converting to PDF and then printing them.  They are here if you're interested:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qjgmudu7ji070hm/AACvVHA29PBUv-sVVAYLjgU_a?dl=0

Thank you @dbroere for pointing this out...I'm thrilled with the results!

I looked at the CR 80 cards. They say that these should be printed on the Zebra printer not inkjet printers, but I was looking at the 500 pack not the 100 pack you were referring to. Could you please post the link to the CR 80 cards you are using with the inkjet printer? Thanks.

I'm using the 'Brainstorm ID' cards specifically for printing using inkjets:

Link

I chose Brainstorm ID as the seller - Brainstorm ID had the templates for Photoshop (and a ton of other stuff) plus instructions on how to use them, so I went with them.  Looks like the price dropped down to $12.81 as I post this.  (absolutely no affiliation with them, but if they went through the trouble to provide free templates and instructions I'd reward them).

I've done about 75 cards over the last couple days (3 per Systainer) and am still thrilled.

The printer is a "$100 printer" - the print quality for this is excellent, but the build of the printer is very plasticky - I would be gentle with it.  The other caveat is I wanted to have the ink run all the way to the edge of the card - which means that a small amount of ink prints onto the J tray...I'd recommend cleaning the tray every 4-5 cards so it doesn't build up and eventually smudge either your hand or the card.

These labels are awesome. I have a few empty Classic Systainers used to store my Microfence Edge Guide and Circle Jig, Foredom TXH, LR32, Drill Bits etc. Have been thinking about making labels for them but don't seem to find a template for the Classic labels anywhere.   It is not too difficult to start from scratch but if one exists, would be a great help.

Few non-Festool labels I've made - the older ones are for the classic sys
I always laminate them after printing - perfect solution for T-loc labels.
Labels for sys classic tend to peel off. I don't fight it, just print new ones as needed.
I've designed a small MS Access application to make them. Happy to share if anybody interested.

I'd be interested in seeing your MS Access application. I use Access a lot and have set up quite a few programs in it. AND, I really need todo some labels on my old Classis systainers.

@gms002 Thanks for the offer. I was able to make them using Microsoft Publisher and printed them on Avery transparent Labels. The look even better than the original Festool labels in my opinion on the Systainers.

Am currently using 2003. Should convert it if it needs to.  Have another unit with 2000 on it if I had to go with it.

Zipped  application attached (systainerLables.zip) + few pictures, so you can see how it works.
All reports printing labels are data driven - no embedded pictures.
Open the mdb. Edit table Labels_Systaiiner (spelling, I know) and change data
in columns:pic_nm, logo_nm and Side_Picture to point to wherever you keep yours. Try not to change the sizes of objects in reports. The reports will automatically size any pictures you use to correct systainer label dimensions.
Other reports there - rulers, scrollsaw layouts for  my japanese style boxes, etc . Let me know what you think. If you don't like them - delete them. The VB code in some of them is very ugly, but works. I didn't write it for sale. As I get older I keep forgetting things - this acts as my external RAM. Comes handy.

All reports are set to print on A4 paper.
Any problems - let me know. "we have no problems - we have solutions :)"

Good luck

George

What glue are you using on the classic sys labels?  I laminate the labels and use double sided tape, but it doesn't hold too well. Don't want use superglue.

The laminate you are using may hinder the effectiveness of your double sided tape to adhere.  There are different grades of double sided tape too.  You may want to check with your supplier and choose a tape better suited for the surface you are connecting.

I have yet to make and attach new labels to my classic Systainers.  I'd like to keep them from sticking out much, but want them to stick well.  I've been attaching Avery Weatherproof Labels to blank PVC plastic ID cards for my t-loc Systainers. I may try attaching some of those ID cards to the classic Systainers using double stick tape.  If I find a decent double stick tape that will hold without being too thick.

Will post here if I find an acceptable solution.

These are the labels I've made for my systainers, even redid the Festool ones to make them easier to identify when I send my wife to grab one from the shop.

I made the template in power point and if I cut right on the lines, they fit perfectly.

Excellent idea & execution...the standard Festool labels are tough to see and tell apart.  [thumbs up]

That's the reason I went to different colored latches but trying to remember what color equals what tool is also an annoyance.
