So I was rushing yesterday and knocked over a Midi Systainer filled with clamps. Fell from
About 3’. Somehow the rear lip that locks it together when it closes is now 1/2 sticking out 1/2 in and the top is locked closed and somewhat twisted. Can I remove the two side hinge pins from the outside without damaging them?  Would rather not destroy the Systainer if I can helping.

I would put a screw thru the middle of the pin and pull it out that way.  I bet you can still use the pins they will just not be aesthetically pleasing or you can buy replacements

Ha yea I was thinking along those lines.  The Systainer is a little beat up and may have to swap it out with another one that carries less weight.

Anybody ever build a Sysport for the Midi Systainer?

I would start by pulling the latch off if you can't turn it. It will just pull straight off, snaps in place.

Then use a pry tool combined with pressing, maybe a small flat bar, to get the back popped out portion moved in enough to open it. Once open you can figure out repairing, etc.

Using a screw to pull the pins might work. But the pins have tabs and and can be quite tight. You might end up just pulling the screw out of the pin. If you try it you may only need to do the side that has the misalignment. Once that side is loose you should be able to tilt the lid open. You could also drill the pin out and get a replacement.

I had exact same situation. I opened the lid slightly and pushed out the hinge pin with a stick. It is was very tight and difficult to do. This is the only thing that worked. I like pulling it with a screw idea.

SRS
The green latch went flying across the floor when it fell. I can only pry it open an inch or two at most so trying to get at those pins from the inside will be almost impossible. Doesn’t help there are 30 pounds of clamps inside which caused it to each pretty bad.

As per the pic it actually popped out in the middle so going to be tough to get it back. I may just take a large drill bit and “remove” most of one hinge.

Not sure this one is salvageable once open but will try my best. Let everybody know how I make out later tonight.

Ok so I took a GRK #8 2” screw and made it self tapping into the hinge pin. Took a few attempts but the pin cane out completely clean. Re aligned the lid/hammered the pin back in with the screw still stuck in it.

Unscrewed the screw abd it works fine!!

Thanks everybody
