All the new Q4-2015 products are already added to the EKAT recently.
Some of them are not complete yet. But the new systainers are.
The drawers are divided by two dividers which can be removed.

Fantastic!

Thanks, Neeleman! [big grin]

Let's hope they've made the top face of the drawer openings smooth, so stuff can't get jammed in like the current sortainers! Then they will be perfect!

Lucky for you!
I also wanted to use the drawers like the old ones when 250 mm depth is not enough.
Still a pity that there's no double height drawer like with the Classic Sortainers.
But maybe the new Combi systainers for fill that need.
But why there's no SYS-Combi 1?

I would bet that if the Combi is successful , then additional sizes will be added.

Personally I plan to continue using the old style and add the new in where the drawers will be a better size. The new drawers will be a compromise on height in the interest of uniformity.

Thinking about the non-uniformity of the classic sortainers made me realise they do have one advantage:

They always have to be on the bottom of a stack which is good because in my case at least they are all heavier and denser being full of fixings etc compared with any T-Locs that have tools or accs or papers in them.

They do look better though, do the new ones have small dividers cross ways between the long dividers or is it assumed the boxes will work (I don't like the little boxes at all!)

There are indeed dividers cross ways available.
But strange enough you need a foam filling at the back of some boxes to fill up the drawer.
Why didn't they make another larger grey box to fill up the extra space?

These look great.
Also, has anyone seen or bought the Milwaukee stackable storage bins.  I picked up 4 of them at HD and I really like them for small parts. I have numerous sortainers, and I think they are the top choice, but the Milwaukee ones are also pretty nice.

Can you post a link to these?

Looks like the bottom drawer would be inaccessible when in my MFTC and other cabinets. Not even sure I could modify the lip on my drawers to make it work. I like these but that, for me, would be a bummer.

I do really like the idea of having tooling and/or hardware in the same systainer as the tool.  I would end up with less, but larger, systainers but the consolidation would be convenient.

DM-Tools also have them, a few pounds more than PTS though.

I'm keen to know 2 things:
  • Will a PDC or BHC18 with battery attached lie on its side within one of these drawers?
  • Will the underside of the drawer supports/drawers be smooth - no more stuck screws?  Surely it's got to be smooth this time round?

I guess we will find out soon enough.

Drills with batteries attached won't fit. Drawer is 69mm tall inside the batteries are about 80+mm.

Looks like you could split these to make different configurations. What do you guys think?

Trying to get my head round what I would end up with if I took the top section of a combi 2. Then put it onto the bottom two drawers of the sort.

It would give me a sys2 with two drawers below, but what would the total height be...? The same as a sys4? Or bigger?

I'm waiting for funds for some outlays I have at some of my jobs, when they come in I'll jump on a 3 drawer Sys 4 sort 3 when it happens.

I really like the idea of bigger drawer sortainers fro accesses individual smaller items in a stack, it'll be work out really well on my new Sys Roll.. Two Sortainers, the main tool then the Sys box 1 on top, all nice and organised !

I think, just from looking at the pictures and guesstimating, what you describe would probably work out to about 14" tall. While a Sys-IV is 12".  But if done with the Sys-III Combi it might be 16" the same as a Sys -V.

The sys3 combi is the same height as a sys4, meaning that adding the drawer to it increases the height by exactly the same as a sys1. The 3-drawer sys4, if it were to have an extra drawer added, would also increase by the same as a sys1, and would therefore be the same size as a sys5.

All the systainers are based on height increments of 105mm, which is the height (without feet) of a sys1. A sys3 is 2x 105, or 210mm; a sys4 is 3x, or 315mm.

The sys2, although it's part of the systainer system, is the only one with a half-size (it's 1.5x of the height of a sys1, 157.5mm). Therefore the sys2 Combi is also an odd size, being 2.5x a sys1 (262.5mm) or half a sys1 smaller than a sys4. If you added another drawer to it, then it would be half a sys1 higher than a sys4, which would come out at 367.5mm high excluding the feet (374.5 including feet).

Edit 08/09/15 - highlighted text in red that may not be correct; need to get hold of one to confirm/deny.

That makes perfect sense and is exactly as I imagined it would be..... But if you look at the picture a few posts up of the sort 4, you can see its made up of four sections. if the middle two sections are 105, that means the top and bottom sections must add up to a total of 105 also... But it looks like it will be bigger to me?

Hmm, you're right, the top & bottom section do look to big! Maybe disregard all I said then - I was basing my above post, to a degree, on my knowledge of the classic sortainers.

Until I can get my hands on a couple, I can't confirm it. I'm at the truck tour on Wednesday; if they've got some there I may well pick one up, or at least take some measurements off one.

Of course, this all becomes totally irrelevant if it's clear there's no way of separating the sections. The classic sortainers were designed as a one-shot deal - once clipped together they should never come apart again; I did eventually work out a method for doing it, but that was several years after I first started thinking about it!!!     I think the height will depend on whether or not the top  section of the new three drawer sortainer is needed. Might be able to just attach the upper systainer section of a Combi directly to the new type drawer sections. Also it is hard to see exactly where the sections of the Combi separate (at least in the pictures I have).

I think it's safe to assume that the bottom moulding of the combi is exactly the same part as the bottom of the multi-drawer.

Postman came today.

I was expecting the sortiner to come with more divides like the original sortiner. Or has someone pinched them?

Anyway I can confirm the undersides are smooth. [big grin]

Excellent. Thanks for the good pictures. It is easy to see where the sections all meet and how they might be reassembled in a different configuration.  Assuming JRB can get one of the new ones separated  [wink]

So if I'm looking at these pictures right, we're looking at Sortainers as tall as a house if we want [eek]
