new Tanos T-loc Sortainer and Combi systainers
« on: August 18, 2015, 06:38 PM »
Some cool new stuff coming from Tanos, Sortainer with a low profile T-loc style catch, and 2 different sized systainers with a single drawer at the bottom.

love it! when is festool going to put their stamp on it? hope the lower drawers can slide out from a sys-az! I think a sys 2-3 with a attic lid + drawer bottom is a killer combo.
When youre feeling depressed just treat yourself to a systainer even if its a mini systainer its ok.

Love those T-Loc sort 3's.

The combination cases would be great in the field / on site.

Good stuff ... Think we need a Tanos Global Direct business, with reasonable international shipping costs.

I think the olds style will still be in use for me along with the new for the additional drawer sizes. The old large drawers are taller and that will make a difference. I definitely have some things in large drawers that will not fit in the new ones. And also some things in the old shallow height drawers that would be wasting space in the new ones.  But the incorporated bins and the in between height will be very useful. Along with the combi units. Hopefully the line will expand with additional combi sizes.

Old Lg drawer = 85mm tall inside, New = 69mm tall inside.

I remember when the T-Locs first came out having FOG discussions on the drawer unit latch that would work with a T-Loc. And the way the latch looks and works is one of the types discussed.

They look interesting but I guess we will be in for a bit of a wait down here, as I can't recall anywhere that sells Tanos merchandise, so it will depend on whether Festool start to sell them and when.

The Sys-Combi seems like it would be useful for a Kreg Jig.  Put the jig and accessories in the top compartment and load the bottom with an assortment of screws.

Handy to have a router in the main part and cutters in the drawers, or cordless drills in the main part with bits and drills in the drawers, maybe a block plane as well.

I've never been a fan of the assassins case style toolboxes as they waste a lot of space and these look better.

Wow I can see  [eek] al lot of new options in tool storage.

But whay is there a foam part neccesary in de drawer if they are completed with the box inserts? It is a new disign, in my opinion there should be no fill up foam parts. It is a waste of space.

One other thing the sys-combo 3 is the hight of a sys4 315mm. The inner dimensions are equal to a sys3. This makes sense but could be confincing.

Botom line, like them a lot [big grin]

These look great.
Also, has anyone seen or bought the Milwaukee stackable storage bins.  I picked up 4 of them at HD and I really like them for small parts. I have numerous sortainers, and I think they are the top choice, but the Milwaukee ones are also pretty nice.

Based on the dimensions I am betting that the insert boxes are the same as for the Sys-Storage (cantilever). Which is probably why there is a filler at the back of the drawer. The back end of the drawer could be harder to access anyway. Assuming the inserts are the same that gives a nice swapping feature.

Finally , sweet mother of ::: !! I've held off buying the sortainers for over three years after a heavy tanos investment , thinking surly they have got to make the fully compatible T-loc sortainer , any month now , its so simple . All the naysayers , eat your words . Drawers could be useful ,you could put stuff in them , uhhh , yea !!  Looks like an Oct release in Canada anyway ..

These look sweet, for sure! No word from Festool yet on these and I expect it might be a while before we see them AINA, but I could be wrong. Smart evolution of the system. These will be a very nice addition.

They're called an Adapt-L, I'm surprised Festool aren't offering them, seems like a pretty useful add-on

@Kev you best me too it,
I have vague memories of a couple of years ago, going down this Tanos in Aus road, and each time was met with a dead end. Hopefully someone will start to stock Tanos in Aus soon.
They sell some really useful gear that Festool don't stock like the empty drill and bit holders that clip into the top of the attic lids, fortunately small items like these can be imported from the UK but larger items like systainers just get too expensive.

Hmm, just looking at that Tanos PDF again. It looks like the main dividers (front-to-back) in the drawers are permanently fixed. [sad]

That severely limits what can be put in them, I guess. I was thinking of getting one of the sys3-sized combos for my SDS drill - drill in the top, drill bits in the drawer. But any drill bits longer than around 250mm/10" won't fit in the drawer...

Edit: Maybe ignore the above? Just noticed it lists the 'separating webs' as coming with the systainer. Can't see why they'd list them as 'coming with' if they were permanent. But they're present, in the same position, in every picture. Can anyone clarify this?
