Systainer for nail guns
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:55 AM »
Thinking of consolidating my 4 nail guns into systainer storage (23ga., 18ga. brad, 18ga. staple, 16ga.) -- wondering if anyone has pics of what they have done beyond just throwing all the nailers into the box.  It looks like I might be able to get everything into a sys4, provided I jettison the cases, but maybe there's more options with a sys5 of adding room for nail and staple storage?

Those will all fit in a sys-IV. I use a CO2 set up and have the whole unit on a roll board. The pics are older. I actually have four guns in the same space now. 23ga, 18 brad, 18 staple, 15ga.

Here's my setup so far.  I first saw the SysRoll/Rolair/Sys-cart base combo here on the FOG.

I simplified the Sys-cart base mount to the SysRoll by using ordinary shelf brackets and T-nuts.  The T-nuts slide down the track on the front the SysRoll's uprights.  After notching the back corners of the sys-cart base, the holes on the end the shelf bracket and the holes on the front of the sys-cart base line up perfectly.  Then, I used two bolts to hold them together.  Very quick and easy to put together.  I still have to figure out how to secure the nailers inside the systainer.

That's pretty cool with the sys shelf and the compressor on the bottom.  [thumbs up]

Do you have room in the nailer sys to just add dividers?

Slick setup Seth...

Are those Kobalt regulators?

Who manufacturers the bottles and do you fill them up at a local dive shop?

Really nice setups guys!  I'm not sure if I can get my pancake compressor on my sys-roll, if not I'll try mounting a tray first.  Definitely be stealing ideas from both of these- Thanks for sharing!

Yes, they are Kobalt. Rebranded from JacPac.

The bottles are the same as used for paintball guns and are available in several sizes.  I know the Dick's sporting goods and Walmart used to fill them. Not sure if they still do. I had transfer equipment left from my paint ball days and so just lease a 50 pound cylinder from a local weld shop.

Sorry Ed, not trying to hijack the topic. Was really just showing one way to get guns into a systainer.

Yes, dividers is what I was thinking of too.  Just have to work out the details.  Was hoping someone had already thought of something clever.   [wink]

@Gerald_D For size comparison purposes, you can see my pancake compressor to the right in the first (top) picture.  It's sitting on the red cart.  Pretty close in size.  I think it would work.

I managed to squeeze a compressor, nail gun, hose and sundries into a Sys 5:

I drilled an air intake hole, a hole for the hose, a notch in the underside of the lid for the power cable and a drain valve hole at the back of the Sys. It is a fairly quiet compressor and even less noisy in the Systainer people don't seem to mind it in action even when they are in the same room. The extra holes don't affect the overall noise level all that much.

I can still fit a pin nailer in the Systainer and I plan on getting one eventually. I have a larger 68dB compressor which is even more quiet but I prefer to have it all in one self contained Systainer kit. I do have a Senco Fusion in a Systainer but sometimes I prefer the air nailer.

If needs be it would be totally fine adding a SYS 1 or 2  to fit two more nail guns. The weight of the compressor would allow for opening an added T-Loc without the Comp SYS tipping over.

I keep my 23 & 18 gauge guns in a 4 drawer sortaner large drawer with the pins in the remaining drawers. Works well for me in both shop & field work. B
