Tanos Organizer Boxes + T-Loc V
« on: January 09, 2018, 02:55 AM »
Does anyone have any personal experience with the following combination?

The "kit" (apparently known as the "Sortimentbox-systainer® T-Loc V" a.k.a. a Sys V with two red and two blue organizer boxes) is NAINA but the individual organizer boxes are...

...however, the info about them is limited. Does anyone know what kind of hinge they employ - folded plastic or something like a piano hinge (with plastic or metal pin)? Or something else? Wondering about longevity/durability.

Also, even though these boxes are designed to nest up on-end I'd like some verification that fasteners/small parts stored inside actually stay put and don't migrate from compartment to compartment or leak out of the box entirely in actual use. Anyone know?

Thanks, in advance, for any info.

I don't know anything about them, but it looks like a great idea.  There is no, or looks like there should not be, any problem with finding the correct organizer box/tray as it would be if the trays are loaded horizontally.

Very cool!
Where are the individual organizer boxes available in the US?
Do you have a link?

Thanks!

I believe that a Woodcraft is the only Tanos Dealer in the US.  Here is a link:  https://www.woodcraft.com/products/t-loc-v-organizer-box-red

@justaguy ,  thank you for the correction  [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

My information apparently was old.  At one time Lee Valley had Canada and Woodcraft had the US.  Good to see that there has been a change.

I don't know about the hinge but the latches are the plastic "flex" type. Visually I just don't see those lids staying flat or tight enough to prevent small part migration. But I don't know for sure.

Racktainer  is significantly more , but also more versatile. There are many more options for the interior division using the modular containers. Which can translate to getting more into the case due to better use of space. No issues with migration. Good latches and good hinge. Can be in the middle / bottom of a stack still get things out. Height is 1/4" less on Racktainer compartments.

I have not tried the fit in a T-Loc but I am guessing similar. Plano 3700 fit. Sys - IV in the pictures.

I also found similar boxes at my local hardware store. I was able to fit 4 of those in a T-Loc SYS 4.

My suggestion would be to take an empty sys 4 to your local dealer and see what fits and be done with it. Likely to be cheaper than the Tanos set...

I prefer my smaller containers to be sitting flat rather than on edge to keep the wee parts in their respective compartments.  It helps prevent brain fahts from making a messy Systainer resulting from latches that weren't fully closed.

Yes, I have one of the Tanos Systainers with the removable plastic organizers. The hinges are integral to the lid and appear fairly robust. As I recall I bought the Systainer from Lee Valley Tools in Vancouver BC.
