Cordless Kapex would allow Festool to catch up with the likes of De-Walt and Makita, more likely to happen with the smaller Kapex 60 than the big ones though and I suppose they could make the TSC fit the HK crosscut rails with just a change of baseplate.

Both seem like a good idea to me but their design team has had one or two notable blindspots in the past so I'll believe it when I see them.

If Festool is listening, make the new tsc55 out of the box compatible with a 165mm blade which allows for 1 1/2” depth at 45.  Very useful here in the states.

How about the 18 v impact driver?

Oh right. Big box store had a Dewalt 20 v impact driver with charger and two small batteries on sale for about $120. I bought one and now doubt I would be tempted by the Festool if and when it arrives.

I still think Festool did a deal with Mafell to not make a 165 mm blade for a certain amount of time. I find it hard to believe that Festool could not see the issue with the 160 mm blade and 1 1/2 in cut at 45.

Oh, I also bought a small Dewalt cordless miter saw so the cordless Kapex is also off my future buying list.

Good is the enemy of great. Perfection is the enemy of completion.

I highly doubt this as they are not even really competitors. Different markets for different users with some crossover, but not a whole lot. Festool makes a massive variety of tools as well as multiples of the same tools with a lot of accessories. Mafell is the exact opposite. The goal is to sell tools and the solution is two different size saws to cover the bases and force some to buy both.
