Hey Frank!

Here's a few photos of my Kreg-in-a-stainer!  I contemplated doing the pluck foam or Kaizen, but then I'm losing storage volume. Everything fits fine, rides in the back of my truck without damage and allows me to have everything that I need with me in one box!

If these images are too large, please let me know so I can resize!  Tapatalk is offering size upload options, so now I have choices...

Yes.  If you call up the Tool Nut, Sean will answer the phone, "Kaizen!" and then proceed to talk with you.  That might give you a better feel for understanding the way of the foam.

Dave cuts it with the foam floating in the air while on his back.  He finds it easier than hovering over the floating foam.

Does this mean you have to work with Kaizen in space?

I have the Kreg tool box they sold for awhile it all fits in and has lots of space for screws.

The only thing I don't like is that it won't stack with all my systainers.

I wish that Tanos would work with other tool companies and get them into systainers!

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Bob!  I'll jump in with my own response as I've started using Kaizen foam to keep things in their place in drawers, etc.  It cuts quite easily with a razor blade.  I started by outlining things with a marker and then cutting, now I generally just put the object on the foam and cut right around it.  then I progressively peel away the layers until I get to the right depth.  I have 2 large pieces of the 57mm foam which sometimes can be too thick in a drawer.  Simple solution - it is very easy to rip it down to a narrower thickness using the bandsaw!  It turns out perfectly that way.  And you can extract 2 or 3 times as much utility from the single piece.

Peace, bro.

I just put my Kreg jig into one of my spare sys 1 box cases you know the one with coloured boxes. I just removed a few to leave room for a clamp.

Hrrm.. I'm getting intrigued by this Kaizen foam.

Anyone recommend sources for it?  Is there a particular buyable size that is ideal for Systainer uses?  (specifically Classic Systainers)

NEVERMIND--  A 3 second Google search reveals that they sell this stuff via Rockler and Amazon and directly from FastCap.  2' x 4' sheets for $10-$20  Wheeee!

Bob in this video I cut some foam out for a tool. I also have used the triblade knife to cut the foam to fit the systainer. The foam cuts like butter with the triblade. You could also use a tablesaw or even the ts55. I was going to put a piece of foam in the package I sent you but I ran out of room. I'll bring you a piece on the 12th when I see you at the toolnut.

Lookin good Bob, I will post pics of mine when my Sys's show up on Fri. One thing I can tell you is that you would be a complete idiot to buy the blade and pen from FastCap. I got a small retractable break off blade at HD for .99 and a bigger one for $1.29. The big one works well on straight cuts and the littler one works well on curves. I also got a silver Sharpie pen from Staples for $1.99 which worked great. We processed the foam on a table saw and Kapex. The 2 x 4 piece did two Sys 1's and three Mini Sys's, with enough for three more Sys 1's. Extremely short learning curve. Most test fits were too tight and had to be shaved to fit. I will post the rest of the pics in Dave Reinholds review page when they are ready. It was fun Bob, Eric

I have my Kreg set in a sys1 with the v-cut base foam. The jig has to sit directly on the center rib on the bottom of the 'tainer  in order for the lid to close. Sometimes it's a PITA to get everything in there and I thought about going to a sys2 but  I work out of a van so I try to keep everything in the smallest 'tainer possible.
