I had a need to do roundovers on the inside of some 30 mm trim. I decided to try using my MFS700 router guide set, the MFT3 and some quick clamps to do this. I am doing this on some quarter inch thick stock. Do to the look that I wanted on my project I decided that I needed to stop the roundover before the end of the workpiece. I did this by sizing the MFS700 to allow the MFK700 on the vertical base to ride within the inside rectangle formed by the profiles of the guide. I placed a reference and support piece of quarter inch material behind the piece that I wanted to do the roundover on. This supports the router base and references the workpiece parallel to the MFS700. I then centered the workpiece between the profiles and sized them to compensate for the amount of the thickness of the side trim which is why I needed to stop the router on each end of the workpiece in the first place. The support and workpiece were secured using double sided sticky tape. I then routed the piece. Much to my horror when I checked the result I found that I had the cutter set too deep leaving an ugly groove at the top of the piece. After I said some words that I can not post I set the cutter properly, ran it again and got the desired result.

The reasons for using this setup to do this task are as follows, I wanted to try out my new MFS700 set and new MFK700 trim router and also I feel more comfortable safety wise to do the work this way. To me putting a smallish piece of material onto my 3.5 HORSEPOWER router table unit seems to me like a bit of overkill. In addition I was able to get quite precise and repeatable results with this method.
