Personally I am thrilled to already being confirmed for both the router and cabinet classes in Las Vegas.

It is disappointing that neither class is full. As soon as I saw the announcements seats were available I offered cabinetmakers working for me the chance to attend with me.

Unfortunately all either have family obligations or will be installing jobs for clients the week of 8 November.

Or, how about extending your hotel reservation?

I consider myself so fortunate that I got my registration in for both the Cabinet and Advanced Router class early enough I could register. GPowers was a fellow trainee during the Cabinet Class, and he has marvelous photos on that thread.

Four of us attended both classes, so the three of us staying at Sunset Station had extra chances to bond during Wednesday. That was when Brian and Steve set up for the Router Class. One of us lives near Las Vegas and needed to actually return to work that Wednesday.

Of course Steve B and Brian S are talented and experienced trainers. They were using Festools before they were hired. All of the trainees brought experience and diverse experience to the classes. Perhaps the concept of "Synergy" has been over-used these past 39 years, which does not mean the principles of synergy is ineffective even if the work has become trite.

As I explain synergy, I use a story: If I meet a stranger and we exchange dollar bills, we each end up with the same amount of money. However, if I meet a stranger and we exchange one idea each, we both have gained one idea. During a synergetic training course each of us should be able to contribute many practical ideas. Under the leadership of our trainers we can evaluate these ideas, so we only keep the ones we believe will be best for us. Funny thing is if we use our brains, we do not forget the other ideas. Often after a period of reflection back home, we can tweak ideas that at first did not appear effective.

The four great fellows who only had the time to attend Cabinet class all made valuable points. Then on Thursday morning we had the chance to meet other Festool router fans. Best of all, those of us who attended both classes had the chance to work along side a different fellow in each class.

Unfortunately for Router we did not have GPowers to take the pictures. I had my less advanced digital camera, so I took more photos of Router than I had during Cabinet. Now I need to go back to the FAQ and do a topic search because I am sure there is a tutorial explaining how to move my digital photos from my hard drive to a server so they can be linked to FOG. This will become my next project.

In Router I was so fortunate to be teamed with Joe E, a man of a certain age, talented in more than one profession and passionate about working in wood with Festools. We had the chance to bond during class meals and protracted talks on our own at breakfast and dinner. Yes, Sunset Stations has a far above average all you can eat buffet. The benefit of staying over Friday night was that Friday evening is Crab madness at the Buffet! Joe does not appear to be near my weight, but he did manage to eat a decent share of those crabs! In my service days we used to describe good duty as a mixture of good chow and good liberty.

Look, I am not taking anything away from classes in Indiana, but in Las Vegas Liberty starts the moment class concludes. The chow included with class is very generous, but if you cannot find chow you enjoy on your own in Las Vegas, that is your own darn fault!

Oh, yes, Steve provided each of us with a generous plank of maple. In our selection of router bits we were impressed with a 2" (50mm) round-over bit with 1/2" shank. Once we progressed past the MKF 700, the OF 1010, the OF 1400, we pulled new OF 2200 and installed those big bits and 36mm hoses. Everything we know about the 2200 is true. The 2200s handled that task as if the maple was butter. The finish did not need sanding. Very impressive.

I agree with what Carroll and Joe have said -- the class was awesome and Brian and Steve were very knowledgeable about all things Festool.  Using each of the routers in the line-up along with the various accessories like the LR32 and MFS system was a real treat.  You can read all about these tools and accessories but it is no subsitute for having a chance to use them first hand.  Swinging a raised panel bit in the OF2200 hand held was amazing and it was great to see just how versatile the Festool routers are, especially when paired with the right accessories.  It was also nice to learn more about the "system" and how everything works together.  Steve and Brian had a great sense of humor and it made the class a lot of fun.  I was amazed at how much stuff we did in two days and I will admit that I was a little tired at the end of each session.  There were a lot of questions about other tools in the Festool lineup and Steve and Brian answered them all with ease and they were very willing to break out different tools and allow us to take them for a test drive.  Brian demonstrated the Domino for me with the small dominos on a couple of frames I made that had a very small area in which to mill the slot -- it worked out perfectly and this tool is high on my list of next purchases. 

One of the things I enjoyed most was getting a chance to meet some other FOG members -- it is nice to put a face behind the Avatar and user name.

It seems like Brian is posing for advertising purposes so Peter will print his image on the FOGtainers?  Can you confirm or deny the "extra personalized" FOGtainers? 

Then all Brian needs is a second dog named CT that he connects with Kapex so they can make some Dominos.

When I saw this, I thought of Benjamin Franklin meets MacGyver meets Festool.

All in fun.  MacGyver also was on the path to be named Kapex.  That was axed by someone (wife) else.  Sedgely and Sedge were the next choices.  Can you tell I really respect this guy?  Oh well, MacGyver it is.
