Hello Everyone} I have now posted Parts 1, 2 and 3 of my mini series of some 'Extra' uses of the DF500 and DF700 Dominos on YouTube. The links are below. I had promised this item when I first reviewed the DF700 but I have had too much other work to complete the filming. Part 1: Introduction, making a useful jig and fitting hinges using the DF500

Thanks Peter for two really useful videos. I have used the domino to cut a mortise for a chest bracket before, but it was trial-and-error to get the length right. I'll definitely be making one of your jigs going forward to make it easier and more accurate.

Awesome Peter Im glad you took the TIME to make the video so we could WATCH it. It is a very TIMELY presentation as I am going to make a gate using the domino when I finally get the TIME to do it. (you had to know that was coming)  |

I have put the Osmo oil on the gate that you saw in the video and what a brilliant finish. Picture below. I just have the hinge to go on and it gets delivered next week.

Peter,
Your demonstration of cutting an open mortise for the hinge made me realize that the Domino is a versatile tool useful for much more than cutting mortises. I think I'll be able to use it to cut accurate tenons with one reference surface (which could have been very handy for my current table build!).

So I've been buried at work lately when I saw this thread go by thinking I wanted to get back to it! Thanks to Chris for replying to move it to the top of the unreads...
Nice jig, great presentation! I'm jealous that you had to wear long-sleeves (our high temperatures are already rivaling Riyadh).
Congratulations on being compatible with the blue screen. I tried that (green and blue) with iMovie and in both cases, the keyer made half my hair transparent. Scared the be-jezuz out of me so I destroyed the test video.
So when will you incorporate a stunt double? Mine will be vacationing here in October so I have to think of a special video...

Thank you for taking a look at the videos. Some people are worried about jig calculations but it is really easy. I used to have huge problems until I sat down and drew everything out. I will do some router jigs with calculations later in the year.
What did you think of the TS55R saw video? It is a great saw and does not deserve any of the disparaging remarks that appeared before any of use got hold of one.
I am having a couple of days away from home erecting an up-market shed and that gate that I made.

Many thanks Ron. I refinished an old oak table with Osmo Top Oil a few days ago and the finish is amazing - I will take some photographs in the not too distant future.
I now have to get my speech finished for my daughters wedding tomorrow!
