Hello Festool lovers,
I want to ask you experts a question, maybe a little bit silly but for me it is a problem.
I have a Festool OF1000 router and I want to buy a PORTER-CABLE 4212 12? the luxe Dovetail jig.
So far no problem, my OF1000 router has a 8mm clamping collet and the Porter-cable works has a 1/2" shank.
What will I need that I can work whit my Festool OF1000 and the PORTER-CABLE 4212
12?the luxe Dovetail jig I hope you understand my problem?
What are your experience whit Rockler.com? I have ask them the same question and
they help you over there like a piece off garbage.
A normal question deserve a normal answer and maybe a solution, but that is, I think,
to mutts to ask by Rockler.

If I am not mistaken, that is a 1/2 diameter, by 1/2 cutter with an 8 degree dovetail. Find yourself a 1/4" or an 8mm shank bit that has these cutter specs...should work with the 4212 two part bushing. The 1010 comes with the ever dreaded, never equaled "Universal Bushing Adapter" that will allow you to utilize the PC bushings. t |

You must understand that my English is only school English.
I can follow you but what is i must find, what kind
off shank bit, can you give me a example?
But there is a possibility to work whit 4212 and my Festool?

No problem Schummie,
Look for a router bit that has:
1/4" or an 8mm shank (the part that will go into the router collet
1/2" diameter cutter at the bottom of the bit ( The "D" in the picture)
1/2" length of the cutters on the router bit (The "NL" in the picture)
8 degree slant to the dovetail. (the "a" in the picture)
Take a look at the dovetail bit that came with the machine in the little red container. Match the cutter part of that bit, only in a 1/4" or 8mm shank.
You may very well be able to use the bit shown below. Then angle of the dovetail is a bit different, but it may work for 1/2 blind... I don't believe that the angle would be correct if you try and do "through dovetails" due to the angle of the "through template" that comes with the machine.
I may be wrong, perhaps others have had experience with this. I like the 4212 a lot for quick smaller production type jobs, but have not worked with the "through dovetail" template without an 8 degree bit.
Now I am second guessing myself....! Is the bit a 7 degree or an 8 degree?

Hello Schummie, I do not know if the Porter-Cable 4212 dovetail jig will work with your OF1000, but here is some information: You will need to be able to use the template guides (Kopieerring) included with the P-C 4212. Festool makes an adapter to use P-C guides (469625, 22.50 USD). The adapter is included with current 1010s sold in North America, but does not seem to be available in the Netherlands. The Canadian company Leigh Industries also makes an adapter(704) for the 1000/1010.  The router bits included with the 4212 are described as "17/32'' Dia. 7-degree Dovetail Bit" and "13/32'' Dia. Straight Cut Box Joint Bit". These bits have a 1/2-inch (12.7mm) shank, and so cannot be used with your 1010. If you can find exactly the same size bits with an 8mm or 1/4-inch shank, they should work. HTH, Ned |

I don't think that the 4212 is the best choice for me.
But I thought it was a good tool and it get several times best Value.
It get a great search to get everything together.

solution, you are very welcome.
I search the Internet and all the brochure I have, but I can't find something what I can buy
and what the solution is for my problem.
I hope there is somebody who can help me.
