I was fabricating 96" cabinet side panels and needed some additional support for the long panel hanging off the end of the MFT/3. Remembering that the Kapex is the same height as the MFT/3, I borrowed the Kapex UG extensions for additional support.  Extensions attached to the MFT/3  Stop on extensions can be used as additional stops for long panels  Extensions also provide support for drilling holes with Hole Drilling Rail and LR32 system. The extensions can be attached on either left, right, or both sides of the MFT/3. Four extensions, 2 on each side, on the MFT/3 make a great support system for handling long material. |

Nothing that can't be done with a $30 Ridgid flip-top stand, but good tip if you already own the extensions.

Nothing that can't be done with a $30 Ridgid flip-top stand, but good tip if you already own the extensions.
To be fair, the UG extensions have flag stops, the Depot flip top doesn't, that makes them worth the $400, right?  |

I think that this is a great idea...at the cabinet class in May a couple of the guys and I messed around with the old style extensions and the MFT/3 -- these actually fit in the tabs on the miter head and it is the same concept as the OP -- it gives you repetitive stops for long cuts. Since I do not have a Kapex, I have thought about adding one of these to my set-up just for this purpose.

Great idea! I recently bought a Kapex (much to a friend's dismay  and my brother's delight - he got my perfectly good, like new Makita sliding compound miter saw and stand), but the UG extensions are a bit wobbly on the Kapex. I'll have to try this out and see if it works on the old style table, if so great, if not maybe I'll have to get a Kapex table (I'm using the portable stand). Of course I also need to figure out why the extensions are wobbly, my initial assumption is that it's a user error (as in usually is my error).  |

There's a rectangular piece of bent metal underneath that grips the v of the extension into the v-groove of the KAPEX with a knob. It has a slotted hole in it. Push it all the way in toward the KAPEX and then tighten it. It will hold very solidly if you do it right.
