Setting Up Old Style Kapex Extension Wings
« on: August 10, 2017, 11:18 PM »
I have a set of the old style Kapex extension wings. I have the crown stops which are needed to fit them. Does anyone have any info as to how to install them?

There should be an instruction flyer in the box.
A bolt with a plastic wingnut/knob goes through a hole in the crownstop from the bottom, than attach a slide nut to fit into a groove on the bottom of the profile.
I don't know if they still ship the same way, but 10 years ago you needed to dissassemble one of the extention profiles and re-assemble so they slide to the other side of the profile (there's a bolt with a ph3 or pz3 head on the rearside)
(But if you bought them used this shouldn't be necessary).

(If I find a link to the instructions I'll post them here)

I couldn't find a download for the instruction flyer, but there's an exploded view of the extention on ekat.
It isn't possible to direct link to a page in ekat, and on the festool.co.uk it isn't easy to find.

I got there through the following steps:
www.festool.co.uk
Scroll down and click on "Knowledge" tile (next to downloads) ->"operating instructions"
Then move the tab from "service-mediacenter" to "Catalogue of parts"

Sawing->sliding compound mitre saw -> accessories->494335 KA-KS 120

numbers 32 and 2 in the drawing attach through the crown stop.

Thanks for your help. I bought these new from Tom Belemere (RIP). I build cabinets for them to set on. Didnt use them in the UK as I didnt have room in the shop for them. But now that Im home and setting the shop up, I decided to set them up as they were designed to be.
Now that I got them set up they are fairly easy and quick to set up. But I can understand why they redesigned them.

I'd sent this to Ron by email, but for the benefit of any future FOG searches, attached is the instruction leaflet.

Here a tid bit thats mention in the manual but didnt sink in until the frustration of not figuring out how to do this left. The support rod connects to the bottom of the extension wing and to a hole in the Kapex MFT. One side of the rod has a rasised area exactly at 20mm to fit in a mft hole and the knob to tighten it is a basic FT knob it comes with the kit.

Garry,

Thanks for helping me, you are definitely the best FT internet  forensic researcher I know :>D
