I know there have already been worktops for classic systainers, but i don't owe any classics and the idea of a portable worktop seemed very cool and handy.
So i made a model in sketchup of one that would fit on top of a T-loc. and has the size of a sys1

The dark parts would be MDF, and the lighter edges would be hardwood, the T-loc design requires a bottom plate to attach the loc feet. Because of this you would have a closed box, so at the end i thought why not have the top open like a systainer so you can place clamps and stuff in there. This requires some kind of solid locking mechanism that doesn't protrude.
Apart from that i added a V groove like one of the other models had.
If anybody has some ideas and thought to improve it, then they are welcome

Nice!

A couple ideas:

- A hole in the end would accept a DC hose to catch any sawdust that goes through the holes

- How about a larger size top that sits on four stacks of T-Locs? (might be no better than just having an MFT though)

How soon will it be that we are just sharing CNC or 3D printing files so we can just output this and keep our tools clean and sharp? Then we will our tools for just the things that we want to build not the tools to build to use our tools to build...   Sorry was caught in a circular argument do-loop.

There's a real danger of someone building a virtual reality workshop game ... Imagine building stuff to sell and earning points to buy better tools - all while chatting and sharing FOG style  Eek!

Kev,

Your statement: "Imagine building stuff to sell and earning points to buy better tools - all while chatting and sharing FOG style"

just replace "points" with "money" ... and this is what most here do....   so your point is?  LOL.

My point was... I'm not here to make the tools to make the things I make for people. I want to buy the tools and use them to be creative and create new things.

Cheers,
Steve

There was some context I should probably have added ... there are some mindless video games on the market. One of them is a street sweeper game - you clean streets.

I was aiming for "irony" ...  Unsure

Oh well.

Thats clever, i will make a sys4 version with drawers and some vertical clamping possibilities.
I will also use Fritter63's idea of a dust port.
I was thinking it may be used to store the 4 little trays that come in the installers sys1 with all the drill accessories, i don't have it but it doesn't seem practical that the trays are now on top of each other. Having 4 small drawers for either the trays or the little sys boxes could be a handy use of space.
Can someone look up or measure the tray size?

I will try to finish it this evening and then share the file.

Not to knock your idea because i can see the merit. But i geta bit of a chuckle whenever i see someone build a box to put another box in.

Id be interested to see someone * replace* the lid of a systainer with an mft top  Cool
