ooohh woo hoo.. I can't wait to get home and check the mailbox... See if I have something to tinker with tonight.
Addendum: Wheeee!! Hunka' hunka' aluminum on my porch. Very nicely made RonWen. Thanks!
However, no pics of usage yet.... I decided that rather than scavenge the Support Bracket I'mma order some extra "Clamping Screws" to attach this jig.
[/b] McMaster Carr has some nice ones, expensive but nice. http://www.mcmaster.com/#92581a340/=7xqtbz I meant the same screws/knobs from the Domino Support Bracket. As shown in fatroman's picture. They're part #469620, and are listed on EKAT for $1.51 per pair. Getting the retaining rubber O-ring adds $0.68. This way I can still use the support foot if needed, without having to reclaim the knobs. For ~$2.50 I'm buying laziness. ;-)

I am also including the clamping knob (487554) as I do not have the clamping elements. I am now wondering if the clamping screws are actually sold in pairs. I think the 2 in the quantity column refers to the total number of each part used in the accessory, and the price is per part not per the quantity specified in the previous column. The reason I think this may be the case is because if you look at the following link, you will see that the quantity is 4 but the price is clearly for 1 knob. http://ekat.festool.com/EKAT_USA/jsp/main.jsp?doAction=catalogAssy&k_vari=&k_ver=&image=0&k_lfdnr=&nodeId=18&sig=13DB1872AA7832D3CC09C6F696B068FE3C2395E7E08C57A3B36368CA7DD3BF59C2DD1AD7172B7D2C4DDEACD9101E235506BF84C7FE9E0EF19BA68E87269A9356I will call them back and post an update when I can. Yes, according to Festool support, the price on the EKAT is per piece- not for a pair. so you need 2 x 469620 (Clamping screw) and 2x 200911 (O-ring).

Oh bummer.. I changed my order with Bob this morning because EKAT shows quanity of 2 for the part number. I really think that's indicative of the number included with an order of that part number. NO?!

NO?! Ok guys, I've ordered one but I'm not that familiar with what is needed in order to get this thing up and running. Screws, knobs, doodads, and doohickies. How much of each do I need? Or if I call Bob will he know what I need by using his ESP?

I did some more figuring & I need to charge some for my time. I can make & sell the sole plates for (EDIT Sept. 5) $38.50 ea.+ $9.50 postage within the U.S. Other countries usually cost $13.95 but please contact me with your location to be sure. I have made a batch with the M8x1.25 threaded hole for the clamp element knobs. The plywood current standard thickness of 1/2" ply is 31/64" (.484") and the standard for 3/4" ply is 23/32" (.718"). Even if using actual 1/2" thick material that only moves it off center ~.008". It is probably a little more important to somewhat center the 4mm Domino tenons in the 1/2" stock than the 3/4" material. I have a batch ready to mail, Private Mail me and I will post the PayPal information & how to order. Any other questions, please ask. Thanks, Ron

Just received mine. Well worth the $. Well made, rugged and perfect for it's purpose. Thanks.
On another topic, any chance you will be milling up some of those parallel guide heads for attaching rulers to the guide rail? I would love to talk to you about that if you are considering it.

Thanks Dane, I'm glad that you're happy with it. And, Yes I do plan to make & sell the parallel guides either as components or complete assemblies.

Ron,
I just used your Domi-Plate to do a really simple task in joining two 3/4" boards together. I was making up a piece to fill in a section in cabinetry where I took out a double oven to install an oven/micro combo. This is of course an easy task to do with the fence on the domino, but your plate is easy to attach and does add to the stability. It made the tool feel much more solid in use and the end results were great. Thanks...

Thanks very much Chris! That's a beautiful slider and of course a beautiful shop for your top notch cabinetry. I'm happy that I can fit into your quality work. Chris -- Also, I really like your name ( Domi-Plate) for the Domino plate that I am making although it may be too close to a registered trade mark of Festool's for me to use...

Although the use of Ron's Box Gadget probably almost comes natural, would anyone share his experience with it. As usual there's probably more than one application (such as ccmviking's post) and it would obviously make sense to collect more photos and practical experience! As soon as mine arrives I will of course post my own experience.
Anyone in the mood for a post?

A very interesting question, although the intent is to make the Domino quick & simple for 1/2" & 3/4" material it will be interesting to hear other ideas for it's use. The nice thing is that it's quick to attach & remove so none of the great flexibility of Domino is lost.
(By the way, yours is on it's way (mailed Monday) -- please let me know when you receive it, and of course how you like it & your other good ideas for it.)
Also, let us not forget that it was "polarsea1" that planted the original seed of the idea.

WOW, You must be a professional (or close to it) photographer?
Richard, would you mind also posting the P/N's, prices and where you ordered the thumb screws and knob? I've got several people waiting on my next (bigger) batch of plates & it may be helpful for them to know where to order them. I know the information has been posted "upstream" but it would save folks a lot of reading. NOTE: I don't include the screws or knobs with the plates.

Ron, it was a quick snap with my iphone! Couldn't be any easier, so no- I'm far from a photography pro. Here are the part numbers again. I ordered them through Festool's Customer Service Dept., although I did check my local dealer's availability first. You need 2 x 469620 (Clamping screw) and 2x 200911 (O-ring). The big knob is 487554. I think I paid around $10 for the parts, and it's all well worth it. Richard.

Did you trim about 1mm off of the knob stud or place a flat washer on it before you screwed it onto the plate?

Norseman, Glad to hear it got to you fairly quickly. It will work much better once you've purchased a Domino to attach to it. Note to ALL -- I've have around 40 new requests for my plates. Instead of sending each of you a response please be patient & I'll try to have a batch ready to accept your orders later this coming week or early the following week. Thanks for your support. Ron($38.50+$4.95shipping within the U.S. -- about $13.95 shipping outside the U.S.)

I just received my plate last week and completed 3 baby room chests over the weekend. This plate is FANTASTIC! Working "upside down" allows you to not have to fight the machine's weight and let's you more carefully make sure everything is squared up and gravity holds the machine in place. Thanks Ron
