I made a jig out of hardwood and used the large Festool knob on its front. After completing the jig, while screwing on the knob. I dropped it. The knob popped in half and the bolt fell out. Moral of the story is that you can open the knob and put in another. A shorter, standard thread bolt if that's what you want.

I've had questions on where the best place is to get the knob & attachment screws -- the last I'd heard Festool's customer service was being very helpful, any other better place?
"Here are the part numbers again. I ordered them through Festool's Customer Service Dept., although I did check my local dealer's availability first. You need 2 x 469620 (Clamping screw) and 2x 200911 (O-ring). The big knob is 487554.
I think I paid around $10 for the parts, and it's all well worth it."

finally got a chance to use your plate. it works great and the domino feels more balanced while using it, which i believe will make for more accurate joinery. i'm amazed that you managed to make a great tool even better.

Wow, I'll have to check but I'm thinking that yours was sent quite a long time ago? Most countries have been amazingly fast (with a few issues), perhaps they were playing with yours in Customs???  EDIT: I sent it August 9 so that was ~15 days in route. My local post office tells me that it isn't unusual for packages to set in customs for 2-3 weeks however most of mine have been zipping right through. At any rate enjoy it & post some picture of your projects.  |

But very soon  My new Domino arrived today  . The plate have just waited to be testet, and today it happened. Works great, even for a novice like me in my first hour of using this great tool. You can really mash down tightening them. You can also take a small round file and create just a little bit of an eased edge around the hole. Think countersink.
This should give enough room for o-ring to be squashed and expand into.

I disagree. The vast majority of the time I'm using the Domino and this sole plate it is going to be with 3/4" material. The o-rings keeping the clamping screws in place and ready to go is well worth the $0.68 cost (each), IMO.
Careful removal is not difficult, but even if one does tear, it's a mere $0.68 to get a replacement. Since I'm generally impatient about those sorts of things, I have 2 spares already on hand.

I use the o-rings to hold the screws in place so that I do not lose them. When I am using the plate I remove them.
Think of them as a storage accessory.

I just use common M5 socket head cap screws to attach my plate. My Domino doesn't travel outside of the shop and I switch sides often so I don't use the o-rings. If you care to provide some clearance for the o-rings a standard chamfering tool in your drill will work just fine.
I just counted & I have about fifteen (15) plates available from this batch. If anyone cares to order one send me a private message for details. I can make & sell the sole plates for (EDIT Sept. 5) $38.50 ea.+ $9.50 postage within the U.S. Other countries usually cost $13.95 but please contact me with your location to be sure.
