I'm pretty sure this has been posted before but just in case someone missed it.  Can anyone translate on how he determines how to position the jig.

Festool in Germany either produces or sponsors an Internet magazine called Holzidee. So far there are 13 issues. I found it by Google searching "Holzidee".
Go to issue 11 - search " Holzidee 11" and you can download a PDF and go to page 26. You will find a complete article on this jig including dimensions and material and pictures. It's written by Guido Hann and is very interesting. Only problem for me is its written in German so I use google translate and look very closely at the pictures. In ten years I figure I'll know how to read German perfectly. LOL.
Other issues of Holzidee have all kinds of projects and Festool ideas, tips and tricks. I have an iPad so I have every issue saved in iBooks. I created a separate collection and its really easy to refer to these articles. When time permits I plan to make an English language index of my favorite items in these magazines. When I do I will share it with everyone.
Good luck
