Edge banding roller press jig for mft assembly table
« on: March 22, 2018, 06:01 PM »
Here’s a short video showing a jig for putting a lot of pressure on pressure sensitive adhesive backed edge banding quick and easy. It’s pretty straight forward and quick and easy to set up with small storage needs. I’m not a huge fan of PSA backed edge banding, but this jig lays down a lot of pressure quickly.

Does anybody know of a weight scale that could measure the pressure of this jig?  I don’t personally see an obvious way to use a home weight scale to measure it, as it would only hit the edge of the scale.  I’d like to measure what kind of pressure these rollers are exerting. It’s a lot, as I can watch the rubber tear off the roller if I have the rollers too close.

Sweet! Does your workpiece go through the roller as nice when you do the ends?

Simply fabulous!  [thumbs up]

@Mgildersleeve  - we have a force gage you're welcome to borrow. Michael, call or email me if you want to discuss what is involved in using it in your application to see if it would work.

Looks like you came up with another one of your  ingenious shop aids - neat.

Thanks, Hans. It was Rick’s idea of simply using hand rollers. As simple as it gets.

Corwin, I didn’t try it. That was just a small scrap piece to show as an example. Usually, the cabinet project pieces are larger anyway.
