Love the idea of the Vac Sys, haven't seen it in action yet, and is also pretty expensive. I might be able to justify it if I could use for dual purposes, such as for a vac press. What do you guys think, I have had a look at the spec, vacuum pressure seems fine, although flow rate is quite low compared to specific vacuum presses, that said, I guess the bulk of the "easy" air could be removed first with a vacuum cleaner, then the vac sys for the final stage.

Pump capacity: 2.7 m3/h at 50 Hz, 3.5 m3/h at 60 Hz
Imperial conversion= 1.75cubic foot min

Minimum vacuum: ≥ 810 mbar/ ≥ 81 %
Imperial conversion=1700 punds /sq ft

Thoughts?

Thanks
Matt

Thanks for the link (although am UK based), any view as to whether the Festool Vac has enough power, or would another vacuum pump be required?

I think it's probably got enough power. I tried it last weekend, it's got a lot of suck. I'm sure it's built quite well. Although it's continuous duty, a veneer vac doesn't seem huge, the ones I've seen. About comparable physical size. It could handle it I bet.
