Have a look at my TS55 docking station...
« on: August 18, 2015, 06:30 AM »
Hi everyone. I built a torsion box 2 metres long and used Festool's profiles to create a handy docking station for panels 800mm x 3.6 metres. Have a look here.

A remark and a question: the original MFT/3 has a HDF-top (High Density), as far as I know.
In Europe we have 19 mm laminated material available, how about Oz? Would have saved you same brainracking… : )
Cheers, Bert Vanderveen

Thanks for the compliments guys!.
Bert, I wanted the melamine finish to work with my bright shop so I had 16.3 mm melamine sheet... and went with that. Just needed to pack it up a little. I enjoy discovering things for myself., all too easy if someone just tells you the thickness of the sheet.
I am about to do an upgrade to the unit, stay tuned to see what I come up with.

Great stuff! I love the tip about ordering lengths of the side rail and guide lock. This will make my own table extension work so much better with more stable base. It should mate up nicely with my MFT/3 I just received!

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing and your helpful suggestions. I like your videos, it seems, you are as good tutor, promoter or wood-entertainer. Someday I have to build my own work bench, but I have not so much space as you.

Thank you.

Surprised you're using a non-antistatic hose!

And of course, those lovely 2m profiles are (you guessed it) NAINA.   [mad]

I was wondering the same!
When I went to get a new 36mm hose for the Kapex the guy at my local Festool shop said save yourself some money and get the cheaper grey non anti static hose.
Apparently the grey hose is the same as the one the shop use on their demo Kapex. He said it would be fine to use a non antistatic hose when using it with a saw. I thought about it and decided to get the more expensive green anti static hose so I would have options to use on other tools apart from the Kapex.
Anyone else been told its ok to use non anti static hoses with saws ?

^^ This.

I would love to build this kind of table - I am sure many others in North America also. Yet we cannot purchase the 2m rails.

Why Festool USA, why?

From my experience it has been antistatic hose for sanders and explosive materials such as aluminium. Everything else the non antistatic hose is fine. I like larger volume hoses such as the 36mm for the kapex, track saws, vacuuming the floor in my shop and large routers are concerned due to larger chip size and volume.
A rule of thumb for me is if I am using a non antistatic hose and the hairs on my arm lift up when my arm comes close to the hose during use, I just grab the antistatic hose. Always happens with the Rotex. Small diameter hoses for sanders gives me better control of the machine as well.

Hi Dave
Many thanks for your inspirational video
I really loved your idea and got inspired by your video and tried to make a work bench.
I'm new to woodworking, and this workbench was my first project. It's not the most beautiful looking bench, but its very practical and does the job of space saving , and of course the cuts with TS75 are so much easier after i made this bench.
I created the second project as outdoor benches
Keep up the awesome job
Thanks a lot
