Hi Jerry,

have you thought about the Syslite or Syslite Duo?

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver

No i haven't given that any thought , looks like a great set up but I would like something more compact like task lighting .  The dewalt saws are coming with lights and from what I've seen it helps a ton with seeing the cut line .

I just drop the blade on the mark for the most precise alignment, LED lights and lasers i got over it.
When youre feeling depressed just treat yourself to a systainer even if its a mini systainer its ok.

I do this too to be sure the cut is exact, clamp the piece, and then move the flip stop up to set.  The prob, which I encountered yesterday and is the root of the OP's problem, is that it's pretty dark trying to see the tooth edge on the cut line. The head casts a shadow over the kerf line.  I had a DW that I sold when I bought the Kapex, and the LEDs were a nice feature to be able to place the blade.

I use LED snake lights that clip on from IKEA (called JANSJÖ), that are around 10 bucks. For that price you can clip on a few…

I use the gooseneck LED light below.  It can run off a cord or on batteries (I do the later using rechargables).  My only gripe is it's only going to light on side of the blade and sometimes I need to line up a cut on the other side.  Adding another lamp is a nuisance.

On that note, it's a little irritating that manufacturers haven't figured this out already.  LED's have been around long enough, they are bright, cheap, consume little power.  Anytime you're designing a tool that a user needs to sight down very precisely, don't make them squint!  Put a light in there!!  They have this covered with drills across the board, but everything else seems to require some higher level of thinking to implement!

I don't have a pic but I mount a syslight on a hacked tripod top when I need to really see.
