Being old stinks  I can't see like I used too , anyone add a light to their Kapex  ?   Not so much for the shop , but having some close up lighting on a job site would be great .  I have some idea's on an LED snake light I use around the shop for machines  but would like to hear some other ideas .

Hi Jerry,

have you thought about the Syslite or Syslite Duo?

Hi Oliver

No i haven't given that any thought , looks like a great set up but I would like something more compact like task lighting .  The dewalt saws are coming with lights and from what I've seen it helps a ton with seeing the cut line .

I just drop the blade on the mark for the most precise alignment, LED lights and lasers i got over it.
When youre feeling depressed just treat yourself to a systainer even if its a mini systainer its ok.

I do this too to be sure the cut is exact, clamp the piece, and then move the flip stop up to set.  The prob, which I encountered yesterday and is the root of the OP's problem, is that it's pretty dark trying to see the tooth edge on the cut line. The head casts a shadow over the kerf line.  I had a DW that I sold when I bought the Kapex, and the LEDs were a nice feature to be able to place the blade.

I use LED snake lights that clip on from IKEA (called JANSJÖ), that are around 10 bucks. For that price you can clip on a few…

I use the gooseneck LED light below.  It can run off a cord or on batteries (I do the later using rechargables).  My only gripe is it's only going to light on side of the blade and sometimes I need to line up a cut on the other side.  Adding another lamp is a nuisance.

https://www.amazon.com/Ivation-Multipurpose-Gooseneck-7-LED-Dimmable/dp/B00GM477G8/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1485815060&sr=1-9

On that note, it's a little irritating that manufacturers haven't figured this out already.  LED's have been around long enough, they are bright, cheap, consume little power.  Anytime you're designing a tool that a user needs to sight down very precisely, don't make them squint!  Put a light in there!!  They have this covered with drills across the board, but everything else seems to require some higher level of thinking to implement!

I don't have a pic but I mount a syslight on a hacked tripod top when I need to really see.

Hi,

I was giving this some thought tonight.  I was wondering if you ordered the handle off ekat for the ks60 or ks88, could it be used to replace the handle on the ks120 so you could have the shadow light feature?  Has anyone tried that?

Or could this be fitted onto the ks120, has anyone tried that?  https://www.festool.com.au/products/accessories-and-consumables/sawing-oscillating/saw/attachments-guides-stops/sliding-compound-mitre-saws-kapex/led-spot-light-for-ks60_500120

I bought something like that but it cost about 3 times as much. Still, it was a pretty good value since it included a well integrated cordless miter saw. Milwaukee 2733-20

Like Joe, I use a sewing machine light from eBay when extra light is needed -- see attached image. When LV comes out with a corded version, I will get this:

I bought one of these and integrated it into the blade guard of the 12" Bosch Glide.  it mounted in a way so that when you bring the blade down to cut the wood, thew blade provides a shadow identifying the cut line.
