After messaging with TimTool and getting his plans, I decided to start a thread for guys in the US to discuss how they are going to attack this project. I spent an entire plane flight going over it and once I finish this MFT, it will have my full attention. I know some guys just got them, but what are your initial thoughts?

The first thing for me is that all the measurements, copy rings, and router bits are in metric. I have converted all the numbers and it totally looks doable, but now thinking that Im one metric measuring device away from doing it in metric. What are you guys doing?

Also Tim uses a band saw and a drill press in his construction and I have neither of these, so Im wondering what guys in the same situation are doing for a workaround? I was thinking of using the RAS to sand the T Loc latch as opposed to using a bandsaw at 20 degrees.

Tim said he would chime in on this thread and try to help us out. I know for me personally that Ive never done a project like this before, so i would love to hear what you guys are doing? Thanks Eric

Ron, thats a lot of pressure to put on a fellow forum member.

I would suggest anyone building these for the first time to either start with building one prototype to see if you have everything right, or building several, but once you get to the crucial parts of positioning the attachment mechanisms to always do it on one model and check if it works before doing the rest.
That allowed me to adjust my jigs where necessary so the rest of the models were spot on.

Thanks Mwildt, you are right about your recommendations, i would just add that i only used a drill press to make one of the jigs, but that was overkill really. I still had to make some holes with a cordless drill since the neck of the drill press doesn't extend far enough. so you can do without. The holes on top of the actual MFTB are made with a router.
on my site theres a list of tool that are either required, suggested or optional. This project is doable with the most basic woodworking tools, but obviously i used the tools i already had, i just had to buy a spade bit and a copy ring that i didn't have yet.

I just finished one except for the latch to secure the top closed.

Plans are OK but are heavily biased towards the templates.  There is some calculation required to get from template openings and guide bushing/router cutter diameters, to layout dimensions if you are only building one.

I would like to suggest that you do not place 3 dominoes along the long side of the top to attach the solid wood edging as this will likely expose a domino when you make the relief cut for the latch.

The only other anomaly I encountered is the stated distance from the front to the rear pads that engage with the top of a T-lock.  My distance was about 4mm longer than specified to achieve a snug fit.
