Hello all, I'm from Germany and my english is not as good as it should be, sorry for this  I want to show you my self-made Festool Systainer-Port made out of aluminium profiles. Also I wanna say "thank you" to user "mattfc" for his great support and help on this. I have found his self-made Kapex table he has made out of this profiles and postet on this forum, and I was very impressed. That was the reason I have made my own Systainer-Port:   I'm very excited on your sentiments... Thank you! By the way, the pictures are pretty old. I have mounted some lock-outs addtionally, that the systainer can't move within the drawer. |

Welcome to the FOG. Looks awesome! Those aluminum profiles look fantastic. By the way your English is great. Some people used to give my mom a hard time about her accent. The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

looks great, well done, glad to have helped. Which size profile did you go for? looks like 40x40 or 45x45. Not sure if you saw this (and if I plan a bit better next time will go down this route) but the profile comes in different configuration lik 1n, 2n and 3n I think, which is related to the number of channels in the profile, so you can get profile that just has 2 channel at 90 deg, that way for the corner posts you can avoid having the infill strips (which are the black ones in your sysport) so are you hooked now like me with this big boys meccano?  |

yes, and funily enough its actually cheaper to buy the 4 sides than ones with less channel (£8.49/m for 4 channels, £10.50 for 1 and 2 and £11.40 for 3!) no idea of pricing rationale other than volumen produced |

Thank you for the prompt reply, Matt. I have to assume that KJN Profile is your local representative. 8020 is a similar North American Manufacturer or one or two similar competitors. In any event, since California is a bit too far west of you for KJN delivery, I will pursue your great idea with them, which of course is the purpose of the OP, and thank you again. |

Thank you! The weight? Puh, I don't know. Do you want to know the weight when the port is fully loaded or empty? I'm not sure how I should measure this ... but the port itself is very stable. |

the 45x45 profile weighs about 1.6kg per meter, wood of the same size would be just over 1kg/m for softwood. Assuming its about 50cm x 40cm x 80ch high, the profile would be about 11kg or 25lbs exclusing the drawer runner, plywood etc.

Thank you! The weight? Puh, I don't know. Do you want to know the weight when the port is fully loaded or empty? I'm not sure how I should measure this ... but the port itself is very stable. The 80/20 2" sq. extrusion used for the frame shown weighs 1.4 lbs./lineal foot. Some quick math for a 2' sq. x 3' tall cabinet (28 lineal feet)_ would be 40 lbs which wold be probably 90% of the total weight of the empty cabinet. 80/20.net has tables of the specs and every teensey part if interested, also lists local dealers by postal codes. Their slogan is "The Industrial Erector Set." Great stuff - no personal affiliation, just building stuff also. |

I have a question about those profiles: would the festool clamps and/or quick clamps suit in the tracks of the aluminium construction? If so, T-tracks are not needed anymore and may look quite interesting... |
