TS 55 REQ track hold down
« on: November 26, 2016, 02:40 PM »
When making bevel cuts with the track saw is there a device which secures the shoe to the track? Making 47 degree bevel cut the weight of the saw will tip it off the track if you let go, in the beginning and end of cut. Any suggestions?

Makita has that. Maybe that can be done on your saw?

A guy named Craig from talkfestool made one. Not sure if he is active on FOG.

I would not use any hold down even if there was one. The saw will pull and flex the track up resulting in uneven bevel. Just hold the shoe down with your hand.

Thanks for the replies! This got me thinking . I took a kickback stop and reversed the direction. Now the thumb turn can tighten down on the shoe of the saw. Fast, easy, simple!

Svar Naturally I will clamp the track when doing this operation to alleviate any binding.

The track is flexible. You can clamp the ends but still lift the middle. I guess it'll work if your cut is short and clamps are not far apart.

The Parallel guide will keep the saw from tipping.  Just flip the guide over from the orientation in the link:  http://www.festoolusa.com/power-tool-accessories/track-saws/stops-and-accessories/parallel-guide-491469
