Trade up to Festool between now and October 31st to receive $100 off via rebate on a new corded or cordless TS 55 track saw, HK 55 carpentry saw or OF-series plunge router! In my ~15 years being involved with Festool I have never seen a promotion offering the equivalent of up to 25% off on tools.

Step 1 - Order any qualifying tool
Step 2 - Register your tool online with Festool
Step 3 - Festool will provide you with a prepaid shipping label
Step 4 - Send Festool any tool, regardless of brand or condition, using the prepaid shipping label
Step 5 - Upon receipt of your old tool, Festool will issue you a $100 Mastercard (allow 4-6 weeks for processing)

Check our website for Festool $100 OFF promotion details and to order now.

What are you waiting for?! Ready, set, save $100!

@Festool USA can clarify, but there were no restrictions or definitions given for a "tool".

@nvalinski, there ya have it! Pretty sweet, eh? Festool would probably foot the bill for a tape measure than a radial arm saw as a trade in tool anyway.  [big grin]

The last two times I bought new Festools there was a sweet promotion like four days later. Perhaps I'll learn my lesson and stop purchasing.

Combined with the 10% package savings on CTs and MFTs, you can potentially save almost $200. Like I said, this type of discount is unprecedented in all my time being involved with Festool. At $100 off, that 26% off of the HK 55 BASIC, for instance.

Great opportunity to add a OF 1010 for LR32 or other tasks so you can have your OF 1400 dedicated to your CMS. Or, snag a smaller lighter TS 55 to supplement your TS 75.

I’m seriously considering it.  Need to do some reading though because I’m not too familiar with all the features and capabilities of the OF1010.

Have at least two older, but functional, sanders that I don’t like and won’t be missed.

Festool better hope Darcy doesn't see this promotion. [tongue]
For anyone that doesn't remember Darcy he loves restoring old industrial heavy iron woodworking machines.

On a more serious note, it might be fun to try and think about the smallest, lightest weight items we can send in to save Festool a bit on money on shipping.  After all this is a pretty good deal.

I wonder what Festool is going to do with the old tools they receive?   A lot maybe be completely worthless, but maybe some could be sold for parts or scrap metal?

Having been on "the inside", I don't think these will be resold. There's too much of a liability risk if someone got hurt using a trade-in tool. Even if they were donated, there would be a risk of liability.

Got my attention. I've been looking for a rationale/deal to get an 18v drill. [scratch chin] Bear with me here...

Assuming the Festool 201371 HKC 55 Cordless AirStream Track Saw PLUS runs on the standard TS tracks and uses the same batteries as the 18V drills:

HKC 55 ($645 - $100) $545 plus a bare PDC 18 $350 totals $895 to get fully cordless track saw + drill/driver.

Plus the cost of the HF tape measure of course...

Aw heck, I really thought I was done buying Festool (already having everything I could want), but even though I already have an OF1440, the OF1010 at $100 off in exchange for the nonworking Porter Cable router I dropped on the floor but never threw out seems awfully tempting.

Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, etc. take tools from individuals no questions asked. Why would there be liability for a corporate donor?

I bought an HKC literally Thursday. If there had been any sort of hint that there was going to be a promotion to come, I would have waited. When the free batteries promotion came down I had gotten my ship notice for my TSC55 an hour before.

No, you're right, the Festool website does give that date. I guess I can be less irritated now.

I legit want to get rid of my previous cordless circular saw, but I guess Festool would rather have back something lighter?

Great opportunity to add a OF 1010 for LR32

That's the hook for me.  $470.00 - $100.00 = 21.3 % discount. Few of these come up in the Recon sales so it does seem to be a good opportunity. I was kind of hoping for another $150.00 sander... and $ 50 gift certificate but that is likely a lesson learned to the Festool Marketing wizards.

Old power tools have scads of copper so probably crates will he shipped to a recycler to live again in a Kapex motor.

Haven't seen this question asked yet nor mentioned on the website that I can find:  Can an individual or business take advantage of this multiple times (ex.:  get two tools and get $200.00)?

Great promotion- got enough track saws myself, but can you ever have too many routers?

You may care a lot less about the expiration date on the card when it's made clear that it's just a general purpose card you can use anywhere, not limited to Festool tools or anything.

It's a normal prepaid debit card. If it could only be used on Festool tools, we'd have made it green and called it the SYScard or something.

Snip.

I agree.

If their intention was to recycle old junk tools instead of metals getting dumped in the landfill, I would think it was a good idea to do the trades. But if a screwdriver is considered a tool, the recycle point is a moot one.

Why create so much extra work for everyone (Festool, shipper and the customer)? The $100 rebate card itself is already an enough marketing ploy, if that is what the marketing people focus on.

Just a guess, but there might be an accounting advantage (for Festool) to the trade in versus just straight rebate.

That accounting or tax advantage, if any, has got to be much larger than the costs of the trades (Festool staff admin./labour costs, tool disposal, and shipper's costs).

Might give you satisfaction but I can virtually guarantee if that type of stuff happens this will be a one and done type of promotion.

Just like the toy tools.

Just my opinion.

Thinking Aloud - NOT that it's not a good deal   BUT       My only hesitation is that the saws and routers being offered for the rebate are being replaced by a newer line and hence Festool is replenishing their stock to make room for the newer version ( unknowns to us).
So is the $100 savings  worth it?????
Your thoughts?

New arrival, new price tag.  Might be more than $100 difference.

Keep analyzing while waiting for an answer.  Then the date will pass.  Festool will not respond to marketing questions and everything else you hear here will be pure speculation.  Evaluate your wants and needs and make an educated decision before purchasing tools.

Any idea whats the expiration on the card?

I finally got an answer. Prepaid MasterCards expire 6 months after they’re issued.

I don't expect answers. But, when I speculated that promotional PRO5 sander would eventually become a new model I was right.  [big grin]
Festool denied the plans at the time. So, there.  [big grin]

Seems like there's some confusion about what can be used as a trade-in tool. Let me give you some examples...  [big grin]

(Attachment Link)

Easy, right? Here's the next step.

that reminds me of when I bought my first toyota pickup in 1984.  Bring or tow in anything with 4 wheels and get a $1000 down payment credit.  I brought in a matchbox car.

Not saying this is a good explanation, but you'll notice that they specify "plunge routers" are in the scope of the offer and the MFK 700 is not a plunge router.

Festool USA already responded in the thread that this is not the case.

If new models or updates were coming, we would see them 6-12 months in advance in Europe typically and there's nothing on the radar.  [wink]

Snip.
So, basically they could just offer $100 card and not waste time and money to send in junk.

Seeing the instructions now, it looks more like a trick by them for you to make an account/register with them.  I'm buying something from you, that in no way involves me giving information about me to you.  Aimed at the same folks who still fill out warranty cards thinking it's something you have to do, it's just a way to data mine you.

Not really, the tools would be running 110V.  So they wouldn't be in Europe, Especially if they were to say re-introduce stuff back into the market.

Generally   new tools or updated versions of tools have been released in Europe several months to a year (in the Euro voltage version) before they have been released in 110v for the North American market. This is not conjecture it is a fact.  It is not 100% always true and it may not remain that way. But there is a previous track record.

They sell both in Europe 110V and 240V.  I bought a 110 V VL CMS table only in Europe (as they'll sell the CMS tables by themselves and you dont have to get a module like the router module for it). I didnt have to change the plug to a US version to plus it into my US CT when I was there. Then when I returned I bought a new US switch for it.

Anyway I didnt post this to "one up" anyone, just passing on some insight .

(in my best imation sedge voice)

I hope this helps.

Where I was going was more along the lines of maybe they are trying to sell down some inventory of Imperial/Inch tools before bringing back the metric tools and selling both.  The tools this was applying to looked to be the ones that got inched a few years ago.  Seeing they are expanding their facilities in the US, maybe they think they can handle both.

@HAXIT, great questions.

1. Once you receive your new tool, simply register it at https://www.festoolusa.com/promo. Festool will send you a prepaid shipping label, so there's no shipping cost to you. It gets returned to Festool USA with that label.

2. This is only for new tools. It excludes discontinued tools. Metric tools are considered discontinued. So, only imperial.

  • HKC 55 (no rail)
  • PDC 18/4
  • (4) 5.2ah batteries
  • Jetstream charger

Net cost after rebate $854. Thanks @Shane Holland & @Festool USA

In case you missed it (somehow)...

I am such an idiot!

I can't believe that I nearly missed out on the promotion without even realizing that I had made a valid purchase.  I bought an OF1400 router back on 8/8/2018 and the Trade Up program wasn't announced until 9/17, but effective for purchases going back to 8/1.

Some how I was under the impression that my purchase had been way before the program start date (I guess I didn't really remember exactly when I made my purchase, but clearly I wasn't thinking).

Luckily I was emailing with someone today who just so happened to prompt to me check the receipt date.  I just submitted my purchase for the gift card.  Now what tool should I send back [scratch chin]??
