Ryan / Ron   Got the new one I not sure I want to use it as it is sweet. May stay with the original one...The new anodized is great, might just have it to look at  [wink]

Thanks  [thumbs up]

Sal

Thanks Sal but no worry, that is hard anodized so it will continue looking good even with heavy use.

I agree with Ron, my Inca tablesaw top was hard anodized aluminum and it looked great after 25 years of rough use. I sold it 10 years ago for the same price I originally paid for the saw and it looked new!

Ron, As soon as I start my next kitchen project I'll be ordering one myself.

Ron,  I wanted to order the plate and hardware kit but, your web site indicates that the kit is out of stock.  When will the hardware kit be available since I would like to order them together.

Ron got my plate yesterday, pretty cool. Looks like customs just had to open the box, pull the Festool knob apart and check it for contraband. [big grin] Pretty funny.
thx

yes, hardware kits will be back in stock too. Actually the only reason they're out of stock now is b/c we're changing things up a bit.  The two holes used to attach the Domiplate to the Domino will now be tapped to accept special captive screws we'll be including with the Domiplate from now on (this means no more o-rings will be necessary).  We'll keep selling the knob separately for now.

Congratulations on getting your Parallel Guide System to market.

It looks to me that you had not installed the scales the right direction prior to taking the pictures.  No worries, but what I wanted to ask is if your Narrow Stock Accessory are sized such that the left-hand ends can be aligned with (but up to) the stops such that the scales will work for them as well.  If the Narrow Stock Accessories were 10" in length you could then set the stops to a setting 10" more than the size parts you wanted to cut -- set to 12-3/4" to make 2-3/4" wide parts -- then but the NSAs up against the stops and tighten in place to setup to make your cuts.  Is this how your NSAs will work?

The dummy that threw the scales together for the photo shoot didn't even pay attention to the scale orientation (one is upside down)  [blink]  That employee is now on notice.    [eek]

That was my first thought Corwin (10") but that would allow the narrow stock bars to extend into the blade zone -- not good for us dummies.   The trade-off would be to limit how narrow the stock cut could be with the parallel guides alone.
I decided that rather than having to do math with an odd number (7-3/16") the simplest approach is to set the narrow stock dimension directly from the front rail edge to the stop bar -- dead simple & dead accurate.

We've made what we believe is a handy change on the Domiplates -- the screws are now captive so there is no need to add & remove o-rings to prevent loosing the screws when the plate isn't in use.
Of the 40+ that we've sent out with the change we would like to get feedback on how you like it.

I received my plate today, great delivery service [big grin]  I am in the middle of a project now that doesn't require the plate but, I give you feedback as soon as I use it.

How are they 'captive'  my plate came without screws, but the holes are threaded. Is that what you mean? If so, seems like a good idea, although I am afraid I still haven't used my domiplate. I've use the domino plenty, just not on any stock of the right thickness yet.

Yes, that is what we mean.
Ryan & I are looking at each other shocked -- if you would see our packaging process there is something like .000001% chance your package left here without the screws included.  We can only guess some customs agent removed them for who knows what reason???  At any rate, Ryan will get replacement screws on the way to you shortly & we are very apologetic for the issue.

(Our "shock" comes from the fact that the threaded holes are to prevent loosing the screws -- obviously if they had somehow worked themselves out of the plate they would still be inside the mailing package).    [blink]

Richard,

I'll admit, you really shocked me at first - I had no idea how a plate could have made it to you without screws. We have the plates stored in our "warehouse" (aka, dad's garage) with the screws pre-installed so it's virtually impossible  for us to forget to ship them or for the screws to fall out of a hole in the shipping box.   I thought maybe customs inspected the package and kept the screws for some reason. So I went back looking through orders for your address to send some replacement screws out to.   Well I found out what the problem was:

You ordered your Domiplate on Feb 18th -   The Domiplates we shipped in February did not have captive screws. If you look at the three holes on your plate, the two smaller holes aren't threaded, but the larger hole is.     We were selling the screws separately in February because a lot of people had their own hardware to use - so if you ordered just a Domiplate in February, then you didn't get any screws.

On the plates we've been shipping in march, we made one slight change: now the two smaller holes are threaded and we're including special captive screws with the plates.   Captive screws are more difficult to come by, and using regular non-captive screws can make attaching the Domiplate to the Domino difficult.  So we're including captive screws with all the plates now (the price changed slightly to reflect this)  All orders placed in March came with two captive screws, and all orders placed in Feb. didn't come with screws unless a "hardware kit" was ordered too.   I hope this clears things up!

What's the current lead time on a Domiplate? Where in the country are you guys shipping from? Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I can get one delivered to 43065 in a timeframe that works for me.

Hi there. I ordered a Domiplate from you in late March and it arrived a week or so ago, thanks very much. I used it in anger for the first time today, and can honestly say that I've never had such perfect 'L' joints (side of a wardrobe carcass to the top) - and I've had a Domino since they were first available here in the UK.

Really like the captive screws - very easy to remove the plate if necessary, and no worries about losing one!

So a big thumbs-up from me, and many thanks.

Cheers for now, Pete

Ron,

the new version is really nice and I think I have to replace my old one.

On your site it says sold out, when are new ones available?

Thank you for the compliments!  Sorry it took so long to get to you - we always ship products within 48 hours of ordering (usually in less than 24 hours). . . but unfortunately we can't control how long customs has it when we ship overseas.

They should be available tomorrow!

on a related note:   We've been considering offering an 'anodizing and engraving' trade-in program for people who ordered the original Domiplate that was just bare aluminum with no engraving.  Since the engraving makes it easier to identify which side of the plate is for which size of ply, we believe this would be helpful to people.       Here's the deal:  Send us your old plate and $20,  we'll return it anodized and engraved (we can't add the captive screws due to differences in the plates - ).  This service would only be available to customers in the US, because the cost of shipping both ways plus customs fees wouldn't make it an economical choice for those overseas.

Does that sound appealing to anyone?
