Bob,

I haven't bought a whole lot of stuff from you but every order I have placed has been received very quickly. That kind of service is
difficult to replace. Hopefully I can use the "Naked Gun - Leslie Nielsen" line of "Nice Beaver!!!!" with the new supplier.

Best of luck on your retirement Bob!!

Nooooo, Bob I don't want you to go!  :'( :'( :'(  I hope you enjoy your retirement, truly.  I will miss ordering from you, even if it was for little tiny orders like sandpaper.  I hope you can get back into woodworking and show off what you're working on here on FOG.  <3 <3 <3

Best wishes Bob in your retirement, and thanks for contributions to the Festool community through great service and always being available to answers questions here and on the phone. Sorry to see one of the few NJ Festool dealers go away. I've bought from you and BIS and had smooth transactions with both.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but thanks Bob for the kind words. I'm sure there will be plenty of NJ dealers coming on board.

I feel like a Festool chapter in its history is closing.  Being on this forum for many years, you easily start to connect the dots with who were the standout folks and retailers and without hesitation, had it not been for the issue of being in Canada and Festool's cross border shipping restrictions, I would have easily been dealing with you many times over the years for my Festool needs and purchases.  You just stood out as a class act Bob!

All the best in retirement Bob!

Thanks Kevin and I'm not this is a chapter in Festool history that is closing, but it certainly is a chapter in my history that's closing.

Peter Halle said, “you spent far too much time explaining things to a Festool junkie”.

That resembles my first conversation with Bob sixteen years ago. He’s been my main man ever since.

Bob, I’m very surprised by the retirement announcement considering all the work that went into changing the fulfillment center and it’s success but only you know what’s best for you and your family. I’m glad you’re able to walk away from this phase of your life with so much more time ahead for new endeavors.

Hey Mike - thanks for the kind words and support for all these years. Brings me back to those early days of me loading up my SUV and doing those door to door in shop demos when just about nobody - at that time,  heard of Festool.  I think the biggest "wows" came when they saw those amazingly clean and simple cuts the AS 55 Saw (now TS 55) gave on sheetgoods - no one else had a track saw here i the USA,  the smoothness of the ETS 150 sanders and the power and versatility of the old Rotex150.

About retirement after all the work and effort I hear you, but after giving it a lot of thought and consideration with both family and friends, it's the proper decision.

Congratulations Bob. Enjoy your semi-retirement. Guys like you don't actually retire from my experience. You just do something else that supposedly will take up less time.  [big grin]

Thank you on the well wishes - and you are probably correct - never really totally retire.

Bob - Congrats on your retirement.  It has been a pleasure from my first order many years ago though my last order recently.  Best wishes and much enjoyment in your retirement.

Thanks Chris and thanks for your support - especially after some of those bumps in the road with my old warehouse!

Congratulations Bob on your retirement!

I just got into the festool game less than a year ago as I started tackling (more and more of) my remodel, and I’ve been so impressed not just by the tools, but by the dealer network and online community.

I’ve ordered from a few different dealers, including BIS, since getting my first piece (a sweet TSC55) and have always been impressed by your service and broad inventory (that spot sander (493069) I needed for finishing with rosettes)!

Thanks for helping to get my journey started!

I bought my first Festool product (an MFT3) a little more than a year ago from you and a few more purchases since than.  The service and packaging were exemplary.

I was fortunate enough to retire early and have the time to enjoy things that, while working, did not have sufficient time.  Now I can do a lot of things but often still not enough time!  Enjoy the time with your family and friends as you go down the new road ahead!

Bob,

I've dealt with a number of different Festool dealers over the past ten years - mostly local plus Tom (God rest his soul) in Austin.  Your detailed knowledge and extreme level of service trumped them all.  You are the best.  One of a kind.  Top of the mountain.

My first purchase with you was a Kapex after several phone calls to answer my many questions.  That was the most I've ever spent on a single Festool and your candid advice alleviated my apprehension.  It has served me well for a decade.  (Fingers crossed!)  My most recent and likely final purchase from you was a metric scale decal for an OF-1400.  Undoubtedly, the smallest in dollars and size but I was so very grateful you had it after Festool USA service said they were no longer available.

You will be greatly missed.

Enjoy retirement and keep rocking that Filson coat.

Bob,

On behalf of our entire team, congratulations on your Festool retirement! You've been a special part of our story here in the US. You will absolutely be missed — both by your customers and by all of us at Festool. The next time that you're in the Indianapolis area, we expect you to come by the office! Best of luck in your next chapter!

- Tyler & the rest of the team

Tyler and da gang at Festool.

Where to begin? Maybe at the beginning back in 2001 when I bought my first Festool tool (PS2E JIGSAW) at a woodworking event at the Rhode Island Convention Center - yep, the same place where Festool offered the first series of CONNECT events some years later.
Festool was there and demonstrating the tools were Strother Purdy (pro woodworker and Fine Woodworking magazine author) and Festool Manager Saulius Tolekas. That was a time when Festool had only a couple of dozen dealers (Independent Sales Agents -ISA's) most of which were pro contractors themselves.
The Festool Santa Barbara office was tiny and when you'd call there for info, there was a good as chance as any that the man in charge Christian Oltszcher, would pick up the phone.

I don't want this to sound like a bad academy awards speech - spouting out names - but hey, here's my chance. Though there are too many names to remember through all these years - I will never forget them; they were and are the nicest bunch of people I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I think another couple of my fellow dealers from those early years - Jim Ray of McFeelys and John Krumrey of BIS fame can relate to that large group of Festool employees who made dealing with  Festool a pleasure. Gentlemen - feel free to chime in.

From Christian O - the most loved and respected CEO ever a 6' 9"man with brains and a heart to match - the man who took a shot and allowed me to start selling Festool tools, Brian Goldthorpe -CFO,  David McGibbon - that Festool tool god who actually brought Festool into the USA, Saulius T, Jim Maner - my Managers - who both looked out for me as well as entertaining/dealing with all my BS, Rick Bush, Brian Sedgley, Brent Shivley, Erick Garby on the product development and training/application side, RIP - Lester Wethington - in charge of tool repair,  Frank Tetreau - now in charge of TANOS, Martin Johnson  - Marketing, office staff past and present  - Julie P, Yvonne C, Ravi T, Minnie G, Lars, Robert H, Tyler C and Shane H - yep that Shane ;) and all many others who  made it easy - a big and heartfelt THANKS.

Joe - thank you for your very  kind words and support all these years; much appreciated and I'll keep my fingers crossed about your Kapex too!

About that Filson coat - well that was 5 years ago and with my daughter now 21, soooooo much has changed. Where does that time go?

And a couple of weeks ago - not sure when the cigars started tasting so good.....

Bob congratulations! Hopefully I'll join you in retirement soon.

You were always the first place I went to when looking up Festool. I'm a serious hobbyist but you always took time to talk to me and many times talked me out of tools that weren't necessary for the job at hand.

Will truly miss the personal touch.

My wife purchased my first Festool's from you for our anniversary gift to me a year and a half ago. You were great to work with. Then somehow we ended up on the phone talking about grills for what seemed like hours. Best of luck in your retirement.

Hey Bob,
Congrats on retirement, I highly recommend it. ;D ;D

Thanks for answering all my stupid questions.

I spent a lot of $$ on Festool, even buying some things I was a little skeptical of, because
I knew that if there was a problem I could count on Bob Marino to make it right - and you always
came through.

Best wishes for your next next chapter.

Bob:

You have my heartiest congratulations on your imminent retirement. I highly recommend it.

As a fellow, early Festool dealer (I think you beat us to the punch though), you set a very high bar for us and all the dealers that followed. Your customer service was legendary (and darn tough to beat - it was hard to compete with nearly 24hr tech support!). Most of all, as a fellow dealer, you were friendly, ethical, and competed fairly. There were not many competitors with those qualities. You were truly one of the good guys!

Now, enjoy your retirement. Perhaps you will now have time to spend in the shop exercising those great tools you sold.

All the best, my friend.

Congratulations Bob!

You have been very good to me as a dealer all these years, not sure how long it's been but we were hanging out over at the "Oak" forum when I ordered my first Festool.
Your prompt attention and helpful advice has been appreciated all these years.

Best wishes in your retirement.
