Checking on this for you, Mike. Festool didn't provide much info. I'll let you know what I find.

It could be feta.  [tongue]

@mike_aa, initial information indicates that the blade is not stainless on the painters knife since it was tested and is magnetic.

The cheese board is from Switzerland. I assume -- always a good idea  [scared] -- that the same is true for the knife that comes with it.

Go buy the Systainers!  Unless you already have a blue and Festool green one you won’t understand how great looking they are in person.

Was given a 5-in-1 by our rep the other day... Put it in the tool box wondering when I'd use it.... Two days later I was bedding Kerdi in thinset and needed something to smooth it into a tight corner.... Worked like a charm. And the shiny surface cleaned easily....
CT 26E, RO125, sys-mft, sys-toolbox, a bunch of 30 year old tools I'm looking to replace.

One other quick thing to note for those who missed it... the blue SYS 2 is $20 less than the "normal" anthracite gray SYS 2. So, not only a cool collector's item that's hard to find, but also a good value. Not to mention a good way to differentiate one or more Systainers in your stack for easy identification.

As always, free shipping on all Festool orders from us.  [wink]

The currently offered blue sys-2 is the same as the sys-2 the Pro-5 came with correct?

Why did I get charged sales tax? None of my past orders have, including one last month. (Did our government finally fix the loop hole of buying from out of state?)

Thanks in advance for a reply to my two questions.

@Peter_C,

Based on the photos from Festool, it is very similar. The handle was green on the PRO 5 Systainer, I believe, and this one has a blue handle.

I think sales tax being charged in all states by all online retailers is inevitable. Due to Wayfair vs. South Dakota, more and more states are implementing economic nexus, which means if a retailer does a certain amount of business in a particular state, that state can require that the retailer collect sales tax. We are being compliant with these laws.

It's important to note that consumer are required by law to report all online purchases where sales tax was no collected on their income tax.

If anyone wants to talk sales tax, let's start a new thread, please.

@safety1st,

Good question.

Maybe some of our European friends can help answer since they've had this item for a while. But, I think it's just to aid with round items to keep them from rolling around while you're trying to cut them.

I love the versatility of the 5 in 1 tools and I have a few floating around here.  Would be nice to have one in stainless, but I'm still in for a Festool branded one and a couple of the systainers.  @Shane Holland you are big trouble to my wallet!   [eek]

Hey Mike FWIW, several years ago Sherwin Williams marketed a bunch of scrapers, putty knives, drywall knives and 5in1 tools in stainless. I picked up the complete set. Can’t say enough good things about them. I use an extra stainless 5in1 as a grate scraping tool for the Weber. Been outside for at least 5 years and there’s not a speck of rust on it.   [big grin]  There’s a market out there for these stainless items.

Keep an eye out as there may be some NOS out there floating around.

I make cutting boards for sale, so I won't be ordering that... Even for the cool knife. I've ordered two systainers. How about bringing a Sys-Hub to the U.S.?

@Cheese  I think it was more than several years ago when I bought mine at Sherwin Williams.  I have three sizes of their drywall/putty knives and they are mostly the only ones I use.  Super easy cleanup and no rusting!  I only keep the non-stainless ones around for the nasty jobs.  Sadly, when I went back some time later to SW to buy the 5 in 1 and more of the others, they had already discontinued them.

Thinking about that... [scratch chin] ...you're right. It was more like 5-6 years ago.   [embarassed]

However, I was at Menards yesterday and thought I saw a Purdy 5in1 or 6in1 tool that was in stainless.  [smile]

Yes. Mafell sells mugs, Bentley - baby outfits. What's the problem? It's not like they detract electrical engineer to design a painters knife.
