MFSC workbench
« on: November 09, 2017, 06:47 PM »
Presenting the MFSC or multi-function shop-cart, a cart designed to assist woodworkers during every stage of the furniture fabrication process.

I got this idea now over 3 years ago, simply because I needed something like this and it didn't exist, as every woodworker I occasionally need an additional work bench, or a lifting assembly table, drying racks, cart to move parts around, panel cart, table to glue etc... but only during specific moments and never simultaneously. I don't have the room or money for existing separate commercial solutions, so I designed this.

It was only this summer that I finally made a technical break through that allowed me to make this work, I have two of them and have been using them since August. I use them both every day, a video of the actual use will follow. There is also a video on my website in the link below of the mechanism that allows makes the lifting mechanism entirely automatic.

The work top is identical to an MFT, technically the possibilities are endless with this design, the flip side of the table could be a cutting table, router table etc...

As with my previous designs I sell plans on my website, it's mainly thanks to the support on this forum that I got where I am now and that I'm able to do such projects, this is by far my most elaborate one. It was incredibly complex to make this incredibly simple and reliable.

A couple days ago I saw the MFSC logo on your profile picture and want looking for it as it was unfamiliar... didn't find anything.

Congrats Tim, as always great job. Purchased plans just to look at, no room in my current shop. [mad]

Nice job!  Definitely will be getting the plans!  I have a flip-top assembly table that does a third of these functions and I think it’d be worth replacing it.

Some people exist on an entirely different level; at levels I can only dream of.  Tim, your work output, range, strength, depth, quality and abilities all shine through.  Since coming across you several years ago, you've really developed your skills and it's been great watching you grow.

Wonderful idea and worth the 3 years you've put into it, well done.

Great work Tim.

Although I already had the MFTC plans from a few years ago, I've purchased the great value Combo pack of plans to continue supporting your work. Just like Richard, I'm not sure I have the space at the moment, but I'm sure I'll learn things and get some great ideas from how you have approached design and construction even if I never build one.

Tim, I have to tell you, when I came across the video, think it was the day it went up. As much as I’ve admired all your work and only wish I had half of your creativity, and your tools, lol, I watched immediately. About 1/3 of the way through I knew I wanted to purchase the plans. Which I did and can’t wait till my shop is built so I have the space for 2, maybe 3.
I can’t even imagine how you go about coming up with these great ideas. Simply amazed. Keep up the great work.

@JBag09 Thanks for the support, I just found this as a solution to some of the problems I was encountering while working. I knew what I wanted it to do, but not how. Drew the first model in sketchup 3 years back, then it became obvious that there were a ton of technical problems and dead ends. Took me 3 years to find a feasible way, not full time obviously but it was always in the back of my head.

@DynaGlide Indeed I will, however I'll start with a video showing the use better. Then I'll compile the build videos.
I just checked, I have a total of 347 shots, 47 giga of video on the MFSC. Fun evenings ahead.

Hi!

That traffic is well deserved, it's a fantastic build! Love the MFSC, will definitely buy the plans on short term!

Can't wait to see more videos on it. :)

Kind regards,

Tim,
Very innovative design!  You have inspired other storage solutions in my shop and this will be another one to add.  I just ordered the combo kit- I'm hoping another use I can gain is an out-feed table for my cabinet saw, so I have stopped plans for that build as of now.

Gerald

@Timtool That's great. Some of us need a little hand holding to get going on a project like this. While you're at it make a video for the MFTC build too  [big grin] I have the plans for both projects just haven't had the time or the space to get around to them.

Plans purchased!  This is absolutely phenomenal.  I've been procrastinating on making a new outfeed table for my table saw.  Now I'm happy I did.  Can't wait to comb through the instructions.

That was to make a composed shot where the MFSC turns on itself while transforming onit's own seamlessly, I made the shots and they worked but in the end I thought it added nothing to the video so I didn't use it lol.
