The removal of the ribbing that catches on just about everything is a plus, but the lack of a built-in power cord is a painful oversight. This is a lateral move from the sleeved hose that I don’t see helping anyone other than cordless tool users.

@Shane Holland  Is the only difference with the 2018 ETS 150/3/5 sanders the new Jetstream pad?  You can use up your old abrasives with the new pads, right?

Thanks, Mike A.

@mike_aa, good questions!

Yes, the only change is the new Multi-Jetstream 2 pads. Basically.... even MORE holes.  [big grin]

The abrasives and pads are both forward and backward compatible. Use the new pad with old abrasives. Use the old abrasives with the new pad.

Exciting to see that we do not need to wait a year for the new stuff. Looking forward to real-world feedback on the hoses and Bluetooth.

Seems like the abrasives are really geared to drywall.

Just a hunch, but I think it's because this stuff doesn't have a plug. So, no UL certifications, etc.

Definitely great to see this stuff showing up here soon after the Euro-intro though. [thumbs up]

Dang it, I just ordered an ETS EC 150/3 from toolnut! I wish I would of known about the new sanding pads. I would have waited.

The new Grants Net mesh paper. Is that mostly for drywall?  Throughout the entire video they only show sanders being used on drywall. It would make the most sense but figure looks I would ask.

The mixer. Is it designed to mix concrete?  I’ve torn up way to many Milwaukee cordless drills on being stupid and mixing concrete with them.

So will the Bluetooth batteries always be a la carte? For example, will the HKC or other cordless tools be offered with them ? or will you have to buy the bare tool , and charger/batteries separate?

@BJM9818, GRANAT NET is made for applications that produce a high volume of dust according to Festool's marketing. I think that's because of the benefits of the open mesh being porous. There are similar mesh abrasives out there that folks use for plenty of sanding tasks outside of drywall. I don't see why this would be any different.

@TylerC, can you comment on this? I believe it should be capable of mixing concrete up to the prescribed maximum capacity of 15.85 gallons.

@Luzzy, I doubt Festool will offer them included with the tools in the near future. But I could be wrong. Eventually, I think it's possible but I believe it's a year or more away.

A quick update... I did get confirmation from Festool that the mixer can handle a concrete product like Quickcrete without any issues. Plenty of torque and control to do that type of mixing.

If you have a CT 26/36/48 and would like to add the new improved T-LOC hose garage with better reinforcement and structural design, we now have them available for order. Also, the new pivoting cord wrap, which can be retrofitted to your CT 26/36/48.

Yes. As @Shane Holland mentioned in a different comment, the MX 1200 will mix concrete.

Man, wish that would have been cheaper. Ill still be ordering one though. Hopefully I can sell the one my CT 36 came with!

I must be missing something:  What does the $30 price differential get you on the Mini and the Midi?

Does the new hose come with the 90° end fitting for use with the Mini and the Midi?
Is the new hose heavier than or lighter than the current hose?

True true.  I guess I don't see the real need for the BT batteries if there's a vac button right at the end of the hose (basically at the tool).  But maybe that's just me.

I don't have a CT that can take the BT module anyways - maybe a 26 one day when I have to replace my Feins.

@RustE, yes, the upgrade on the MINI/MIDI is the new hose with the correct right angle vac-end connector.

I have heard that the new hose is lighter and more flexible. Again, let's get @TylerC  to confirm.

So given that the MX doesn't come in a systainer, are we to assume it wouldn't fit in one?

@live4ever the head unit / motor only will fit in a SYS 5. But it's a no-go on the paddles, of course.

Has anyone done the calculations yet on the cost effectiveness of the df500 connector systainer vs buying separately?

I remember I did the calculations on the XL connectors, and realized it was better just to buy stuff individually.  But with the DF500 connectors, you have the add on template and cutter.  The application I have in mind is a large shelving unit (with multiple columns of shelves), so I would be primarily using them to make the terminal butt joints between the verticals and the top and bottom of the shelving unit, but since they are going to be relatively tall (around 10 ft.), I would probably also add one row of fixed shelves in the middle  to keep consistent spacing between the verticals.  All of the other shelves would then be floating on shelf pins.

@ear3, looks like the whole kit should cost about $482 if bought individually (not including the screwdriver). The odd quantities means I had to essentially take the unit price of each connector off of the 25 and 50 packs to get to the 10, 20, and 70 quantities sold in the kit, but it still looks like ~$100 savings. I just wish it was a bigger SYS 2, seems like there's not much extra space for more than a handful of connectors at a time.

Yes, the new smooth hose is much lighter and more flexible. When I first heard about a new hose, I was a little skeptical about how much better it could be. I was wrong. It's really cool.

Hey @Shane Holland a couple of questions.

Are you offering the new MIDI hose garage with the T-Locs as an accessory?

What's the purpose of the new 8mm x 36mm domino, 203175?

@Cheese,

Yes, we have the MINI/MIDI T-LOC Hose Garage, which has been available for a while now.

I believe the 8x36mm tenons are used to help with load where you need additional support and are the same dimensions as the connectors. So, cheaper than using multiple connectors where you can use one connector and one or more tenons. You can see the principle demonstrated with the Domino XL connectors in Phil's video. @Festool USA, can you confirm?

@1951CorrectCraft, compatible in what way? Like joining hoses together? If that's what you mean, you would need to use the method of changing the connectors and using a coupler, which has been the method used for the "old" hoses. The "new" hoses can be joined together without the need of a coupler.

Thanks @nvalinski  Does the pricing you did also include the systainer, or just the components?  I guess I'll have to do a specific calculation after I draw up the plans for my shelving units, but off the top I don't need all those different colored plugs, or the extra dominoes, and could just as easily store the materials in a drawer in my shop rather than have yet another systainer.
