With General Int. not producing anymore and there still being a strong demand for the options they redesigned, do you blame them?

SawStop gets my vote for allowing Dealers and End Users to have access to the tools and accessories whether you want to call them General Int. or SawStop. They were quality products under the General Int. design/brand and will continue to be strong products on the redesigned SawStop brand.

We can't speak for General International, just be glad that SawStop is doing what they are doing to keep quality made and well engineered tools and accessories in production.

Matt, could you please clarify your statement about General ?  Their website is still up with these product, they still have a spring show schedule slated, have not mentioned any news on social media or a press release that I've been able to find.

I assume , as a dealer you been notified they are closing shop or ceasing the Excalibur lineup.

Or have they just dropped dealers, or not answering calls on the dealer line ?

From what I've been told from dealers is they have not been able to get parts for any of there machines that have been ordered a year ago. No new machinery and no parts for old machinery. Dealers around me have phased them out and brought in new brands.

Interesting.  Do we think that's because their suppliers can't or won't deliver ?

If they can't deliver, I don't see SS being any more successful. Leads me to believe there might be a liquidity issue for GI.

Their Canadian website shows a 2014-2015 catalog and nothing newer though.

I think saw stop is looking ahead to when their patent runs out. Because really I dont see them staying in business long after that. Unless they shore up their line  with something else their wont be any reason to go to Saw stop. So  getting the  Excalibur and  other General  international Specialty items is a very smart move.

I have used all the Saw Stop saws and IMHO the only saw worth having is the industrial model. Every other saw is simply not as good as the completion. Take away the safety device and whats left?

Even with their Industrial model I am not so sure that would be my choice if it didn't have the safety device. And once the patent runs out unless it cost the same as same as competing models models I wouldn't even look at it.

The one who says it can't be done should avoid interrupting the person doing it.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but I just purchased one of there edge sanders for a huge discount from HD. The add claimed it was overstocked. My local Woodcraft sells General since we are only about 20 min from there Murfreesboro Tennessee distribution center. I'm going there in a few weeks I will inquire about them as I am curious also.

GI has not announced anything regarding closing or the dropping of any of their dealers to our knowledge. Our perspective comes from issues with significant back orders as well as major changes and departures to their chain of command over the last 1-2 years.

We get daily requests for all of the items that SawStop has redesigned and branded. Again smart move on their part.

They should do what Craftsman did and tout an iOS app that sends you maintenance reminders as an exciting new development because table extensions are probably not gonna convince the lawyers that their credit's any good for long.

looking at HD website- it looks like the majority of General machinery is listed as overstock...

Lets make sure this dealer announcement topic doesn't become about HD overstocks on whatever other tools or some other discussion.
