Just found a good deal on a brand new Albrecht 1/2" on eBay finally! Ordered a new arbor and going to upgrade the Jacobs 14N I have in my Delta 18-900L. Always wanted to try one of these Albrecht keyless chucks.

I recently did the same, that is, bought an Albrecht chuck on eBay and a new arbor with the matching tapers on Amazon.   Installed it last Thursday, I am very pleased.  It's a nice improvement over the stock chuck that came with the Delta drill press.

Thanks to Cheese for his advice and recommendations on doing this!

Hey Ben, FWIW...I was also using a Jacobs 14N in my Delta before I substituted the Albrecht. It’s made a huge difference in pleasurability of use.

I do a lot of metal fab and if I need a 1/2” diameter hole I’ll start with a 3/16” bit, then go to maybe 3/8” and finish with the 1/2” bit.

The conundrum has always been, if drilling several 1/2” diameter holes, do you drill all the 3/16” holes first and then recenter the piece to drill the 3/8” holes and then recenter again to drill the 1/2” holes or do you just keep the item in one position and start swapping out drill bits?

To maintain accuracy the obvious solution is to swap out drill bits but with a keyed chuck it’s a real PITA.

The Albrecht really eliminated that issue for me.
