Hi FOG -

Systainer.Store is now open!  We are an authorized and independent dealer of Tanos systainers.  I was talking with Franck regarding our launch plans, and he recommended I let the FOG community know.

For the month of October we are offering 10% off on orders placed in our store.  Use code "GrandOpening" during checkout.
We've got many of the basic products in stock, and will be filling out our inventory in the coming months.  We offer UPS shipping.
If there is a specific item you would like us to carry or have feedback on how to improve your experience with us, please let us know.

Regards - Sys Tim

Very glad to have this outlet available.

Is there any chance of having T-Loc latches available in Festool green and systainers available in other colors to match various tool manufacturers?

Thanks for the request @RobBob.

I am able to stock spare parts.  I'll check on color variety available.  I can imagine Tanos would want to reserve the Festool Green T-Loc for Festool dealers, but I don't know that for sure and I'll ask.  I'd like to grow Systainer.Store as a resource for any systainer or accessory, no matter the original origin of the systainer.

As for different colors of systainers, that is something I've put on my plan.  It will be a while before I implement that though as it takes larger orders direct from Germany.  What would you say are the top three colors Systainer.Store should stock?

Other that the standard “white” and “anthracite”, I’d say the best colors to stock are Milwaukee, Bosch, and Makita.

Thank you @Michael Kellough I'll keep this list in mind when I get to the point of stocking more colors.  It is likely a few months away, I need to get some tractions with these initial offerings.

@Cheese Honestly I had not heard of attic covers till now.  I guess I've been living in a systainer hole focusing on the few products that I and my friends have used.  I just did some Googling and better understand it.  For right now, I don't have plans.  Though if there is enough demand here, or if you need something special order, I can look into adding this on my next order to Tanos.

Overall I love this input and suggestions.  Please keep them coming.  I'm working on my web store and will soon implement a discount if you buy 2 or more of the main systainer products.

Thanks at @live4ever I've got the mini3 with box inserts on my store now.  https://systainer.store/products/mini-systainer-t-loc-iii-with-box-insert

When I got my shipment in, this was my first encounter with the mini line.  I love them!  I'm certainly getting mini-SYS I and mini-SYS III without inserts/boxes in my next order.

One general suggestion .......................  try to stock as much as possible, and especially the items that are not available from another USA source.

 There have been other attempts in years past stock and sell the Systainer line in the USA.  One of the things that I have always run into was not being able to get the items I have wanted for a Sys project. And or not being able to get them all from one source. Frequently I found that after trying to piece it together from several sources and then still coming up short I would end up just ordering straight from Germany. Or scrapping the idea and not buying from anyone.

EX- I need a red Sys III, a black handle, an  'X' insert.......... And can't find the parts. So I switch to a slightly different configuration and nope now item 'X' is missing etc.  Try again.................. now something else is missing. Oh well , forget it. = no sales.

All the "standard" stuff (light gray and anthracite in sizes I - V) is pretty easy to get. It's all the rest that will make or break a Systainer project.

I know it is not an easy line to have stock on hand for everything. But if you only have part of it then it will be hard to sell any of it.

Just my two cents and I might be wrong but this is what I have run into.

+1 for the Work Center!

I'd also like to see all different colors of latches, ideally for much less than $10 each!

I am surprised that I don't see the Rack Systainer IV in your offerings.

I can echo Seth's comments, I'd like to see all the various bits, pieces, and accessories available.  Maybe partner with the folks at  Kaisen Inserts to make it easy for us to source our solution from one vendor as Seth suggests.

Here’s a great example of what Seth & gunnyr are talking about.  A few years ago I wanted an orange Systainer for my Fein Multimaster.

I ordered the orange Systainer directly from Franck! FWIW...it took 2 months for the orange Systainer to show up. The black handle though, had to come from Woodcraft, while the Fein insert had to come from McFeely’s. What a pita. Three different sources.  [sad]

As of today, Woodcraft has the T-Loc latches in some colors while Amazon has a different selection of T-Loc latch colors. Two different sources.  [sad]

The attic lid is a very popular addition if it matches the color of the standard Festool Systainers.

Some sort of partnership with Kaizen could prove to be symbiotic.  [big grin]

I’d try to differentiate your Systainer business from that of Woodcraft’s Systainer business. They offer a ton of light grey and anthracite Systainers. It’d be tough to go toe-to-toe with them on a purchasing power basis.

What is it that makes your business model different and why would people want to purchase from you when there are already established avenues to follow?

What service do you offer that is unavailable from the big dogs?

My thoughts are color as in Milwaukee/Mafell/Hilti/Ridgid, Bosch, Makita, Dewalt (that market is huge even though I generally despise their products), Fein/Ridgid.

The mini-Sys in its 1-2-3-? iterations may be a good starting point for you as I’ve not seen it promoted much by the big dogs. They’re too busy hawking the more mainstream full size Systainer stuff.

Just some of my thoughts...good luck.

I love the feedback guys!  Thanks for being honest and straight forward in your thought sharing.  There is a lot to think about and respond to here.

I too would like to find a way to offer value and be a little differentiated.  Yes, there is competition in the space for Systainers, and at the same time I see the market growing in the USA.  This means there is an opportunity to serve a particular area, region or niche, it is a matter of time and growing those opportunities.  My goal has been to start with a bit more of a broader offering and to then to take the feedback and adjust as needed.  All of your thoughts are helping me.

Ohhh...I like that mobile workstation.  I'll check.  Tanos has been brining over a portion of the Tanos product line and stocking them in the USA, I've not seen this yet, though that doesn't mean I can't order from Germany.

Nice recommendation on the Kaizen foam.  I've used Kaizen foam in my workshop at home and like it.  My shop does have the Tanos pick and pluck, and I'll check follow on custom Kaizen inserts:  https://systainer.store/collections/additions-and-accessories

Colors, colors, colors.  I hear ya!

I do not have a retail location in Grand Rapids.  However if you are in the area and want to not pay for shipping, send me a note and we can work out something.  We mostly need to agree on a handoff point and time.

I don't see the sys-AZ in your products list. Are you carrying them? If special ordered do the sale prices apply?

I’d like to see a pre-cut plywood bottom for the Systainer 2 thru Systainer 4 made from 12mm Baltic Birch.  This could be done on a CNC and would make custom inserts much easier to build.

Good luck with your Venture.  Obviously everyone could jump in with a lot of stuff and overwhelm you in a hurry.

One key I will give you is "specifications".  Buying stuff, especially "system" stuff requires good clear information/specs/dimensions.

I like that you have a link to PDF spec sheets on the listings, this is an excellent start.  A proper PDF with good information is key.

Now, I'm assuming by the look of things you are getting them from the US side of TANOS, thus one of the downsides of the PDFs you have.  They are dual dimensioned, with Inch first no less.  This gets confusing in a hurry. If they had metric only specs sheets that would be better and clearer.  Something that has been a pain with Festool is them doing conversions (and fractional inch conversions at that) on the products. Which makes it difficult to find the real answer. You get drift thru various conversions and so forth instead of just keeping everything in it's native units.  Systainers are metric by birth, so if you keep all the information metric it will keep things much clearer.  I understand if such PDFs don't exist.

Still, you can never have too many dimensions for products.  If Tanos has more detailed drawing views of the products that people can really understand all the dimensions of the products, all the better. It allows people to really be sure it's going to work for what they are trying to do (thus a sale).  When people are left guessing stuff, they don't buy.

GREAT IDEA...just to make sure that was heard...GREAT IDEA.

That could be the basis of countless custom designed Systainer inserts. What a great starting off point.  [big grin]

Amen!  I took some time to create the spec sheets on the web site form the Systainer Catalog.  I'm working on some ideas for incorporating the information into the product page as well.    I'll be sure to call out the metric units.

@SouthRider You are correct, I don't have this item in stock.  It isn't in the USA catalog yet, though I could order from Germany.  When I do that there is extra time and minimums.  I'll confirm what it would take.  I'm willing to honor the discount on specials orders that also include items I could stock, though we may need to workout the details to make special ordering efficient for all.

Thank you again everyone.

For those checking out the site, we just implemented some discounting that applies when your order 2 or more of the standards Systainer products.  The discount dialog isn't displaying well yet for our site and we will get that straightened out.  The discount should show up at checkout, and of course, our "GrandOpening" 10% discount code is still active till the end of October.

I've done some research of the various product requests here.  Basically, if there is a Festool specific item, Systainer.store won't be able to source/supply it at this time as we are only an authorized independent dealer for Tanos.  Other Tanos products, like you see in the European catalog, will make their way to the USA in time - stay tuned!  I'll keep working some of the customized options you are requesting as well like the foam and pre-cut wood inserts.

From my point of view as long as you have light gray I'm happy. Maybe a color for a first aid kit would be nice or for some other specialty items, I'd rather see costs stay low.

What I would like is a variety of latch colors and spare parts. It would be super nice to be able to get interior liners. Perhaps you could find a vendor who could make interior foam and there could be a library of designs that could be produced at a reasonable price.

Thank you guys for the continued feedback.

We got the quantity discount system in place now.  Most product pages look OK, though a couple pages have an oddity we are trying to resolve in the code related to the positioning of the add to cart button.  Our next task to improve our site is to add further text/tabs to each product with more description and measurement info.

This weekend I may be able to test cut some plywood insert samples and if so I hope to get the community feedback.

I'm doing some studying of shipping rates for Systainer.store, and now I'm curious about community feedback.

We aren't at the point of being able to offer free shipping, however I'm looking at something that is more like flat rate shipping.  Right now our site is calculating shipping and passing through the exact shipping cost.  I've got a feeling that flat rate shipping may be more appealing, especially since the Systainer is a bulkier item to ship.  I'd like to get your feedback on if you prefer flat rate shipping or pass through actual shipping cost.  If the flat rate shipping table is set up right, I suspect that for most orders shipping would be cheaper.  My initial pass at the shipping table is below:

Orders up to $50 :: $6.00
$50 to $100        :: $8.00
$100 to $200      :: $10.00
$200 and up       :: $12.00
Special bulky items may still have actual shipping

What do you think?

-Sys Tim

A someone who once shipped a bunch of Systainers on a personal level I would offer the advice that you go thru a significant period of time shipping at actual cost versus a flat rate shipping.  Then take that data and look to see what works best for you based on simplicity, etc.  Also look at your pricing based on box dimensions if applicable.  For instance 2 Sys 1 locked together in the same box should be the same size as a single Sys-3 but weighs more than a Sys-3.

Systainers don't weigh much but the shipping cost really is affected by the volume of the air inside.

Offered respectfully.

Thank you Peter and Michael.  I've not shipped enough multi Systainer orders to have a handle on the many combination of Systainers and shipping.  The volume of air, as you put it Peter, has been the thing on my mind.

For the moment I'll stick with actual shipping costs to gather more data.
