« on: September 17, 2018, 07:43 AM »
Hey All,

If Anyone was on the fence about buying a Festool TS or HK saw or router, now’s the time to act. Essentially buy any one of those tools and send Festool ANY tool in the mail (postage on Festool) and they will send you a gift card for $100.

 Offer ends October 31.

This program allows ANY TOOL - yes even non-Festool tools - in ANY CONDITION to qualify.

To answer a question that I have been emailed about - no, this promotion is not Festool's way of clearing out stock in preparation for the next generation of Saws and Routers. It's to get anyone on the fence - or those not on the fence to take the leap and make the purchase.

If you buy a router, do you have to trade in a router or can it be another type of tool like for example, a power drill?

Any tool.  Even a screwdriver or tape measure qualify.

James,

Any tool - in any condition qualifies in this program. You have a 20 year old broken Harbor Freight sander - send it in. Repeat - any tool in any condition is a go.

See Pete’s response- it’s absolutely true.
Apparently Festool is using that word “tool” very, very loosely.

Really wish there were more tools offered in the program, like say cordless drills, or even a TS75.....

A very small Allen wrench would be favored by Festool.

 Funny!
To a larger issue - I’m sur these “tools” will be properly disposed of by a responsible 3rd party company.

So, it's a $100 off sale on saws and routers with the buyers jumping through a hoop to send some POS tool in so Festool does not have to label it as a sale in order to protect their price fixing?

...Or it is an opportunity for those who have older tools to trade them in for $100 towards the cost of owning a Festool tool they may want.  Obviously it is their choice.

Glass full or glass empty I guess.

Peter, don't get me wrong, I love the $100 off on a new saw or router.  It has the 1010 running through my head which I would have not thought about otherwise.

But anyone in their right mind would find a 'tool' that would fit in an envelope they could stick in their mailbox rather than packing a larger tool in a box box and dropping it off at the Post Office or UPS.  If it was truly an upgrade program, you would not be allowed to upgrade from a jeweler's screwdriver to a TS55.  My point is it's an unnecessary step and added time requirement on the customer.

Call it a loyalty promotion, give the first 2,500,000 people a voucher code for $100 off and everyone's happy.

I guess like Pete mentioned - "glass full or glass empty" and I'm not exactly sure why/how Festool decided to this particular promo in this particular manner, but the bottom line is that it's a pretty hefty savings and goes a long way in getting potential customers to push the button and make the purchase.

I don't think its very laborious for the customer (at least I hope not) - especially when compared to the recon tool program and when the dust settles and/or feathers become unruffled, customers can avail themselves to some great tools at a much nicer price.

If they would send me a factory metric TS55 instead of the 100 dollar gift card they could get me off the fence.  Getting the tool I want is more important than 100 bucks gift card.  They would have gotten a lot of my money by now if it wasn't for bad decisions on their part.

It has to be cheaper to just sell what they used to sell again than do promotions like this.

I'd take advantage of this sale and buy another OF1400 if I could get one with a Metric scale.

I already have one along with two OF1010's and an OF2200.  All have Metric scales just like my TS55 and TS75.

I prefer Metric to Imperial for these tools.

It kind of is, just not directly.  I haven't even ordered my OF 1010 yet for the trade up program, but I've already ordered the Imperial to Metric conversion directly from Festool USA, it cost $10 with shipping.  They did mention that this kit is something that the dealers could offer.  Wouldn't it be nice if your favorite online Festool dealer allowed you to check a box to add this conversion option to your order...

Is there more info on these "metrification kits",  especially if they had it for the saws.

While these shouldn't have to exist, if there is a simple kit to buy to fix the tool myself, thats a step in the right direction, but still never makes the tool "metric" from a Part Number/Resale Value stand point.

I'm not buying a saw, then being forced to register with festool, to send it in (and have to pay) to have a piece of plastic swapped when I can tear the tool down and do it myself, it's not like I wouldn't be tearing the tool down anyway from time to time to clean/check/inspect it.

For the OF1010 I ordered the piece, it gets delivered tomorrow so I'll take a picture or two, should be an easy install.  For the TS55 I've owned for a few years which came metric, there was a guy back then who was selling for cheap a sticker that fit over the scale which had both metric and imperial markings.  Looks so good I forgot it wasn't stock until I started composing this reply.

Thanks! Per chance, do you have that item number for that scale?

Part# for the metric scale for the OF1010 is 450678 and you'll need a torx 10 bit.  Installation takes 5 minutes if you're careful, 3 if you're not.

Phew, that's what I ordered - along with the 1400 scales. My confusion was with Festool's description -   StopOF 1000 EB VOLLST

 Thanks for the clarification.
