Hi Guys
There was some discussion recently about Kaizen Foam. I'm a UK dealer for FastCap and carry a lot of their products. The issue with Kaizen Foam is that, due to it's volume, it's extremely expensive to ship over from the USA, especially in small quantities.
So I would like to gauge interest in Kaizen Foam. Can you let me know if you are interested in buying it and also let me know what sort of sizes you are interested in. FastCap supplies it in 2ft x 4ft boards. Would you want full boards, or rather it in Systainer sized pieces?
To say thanks to FOG members for helping me with this research, there will be a small discount on the eventual price of the Kaizen Foam.

Hi Alan
I did research this late last year and actually got a sample from eFoam. Their Ethafoam product is indeed the same material as Kaizen Foam, but the laminations are much thicker, making it not so versatile for making into tool inserts. Since then I have got a sample of the Kaizen Foam and I'll order a sample of the Ethafoam product to do a comparison.
Thanks
Tom

Yes, though it probably won't be until the end of summer. They have been making some incremental changes to the product, so I've been waiting until production is complete. If you want me to quote you a price, send me a PM.

I have looked at the efoam site and for me personally i think the 10mm sheet is ideal for custom inserts as you can build up the layers to suit my requirements , as i am putting a makita 3kg sds in a tanos size 2 classic systainer and used styrofoam for a template i will shortly be buying some efoam and just copy the template , will post pics if anyone is interested ( when i have learnt how to add pics that is )

The eFoam Ethafoam is the same material but not the same construction as Kaizen. Kaizen is 5mm layers and the layers are bonded with something that doesn't grab as hard as the Ethafoam product. You could indeed make up tool boxes from the 10mm stuff, it would probably work just as well. I'm going to test it.

i presume you mean that the layers are more permanently stuck together. \ could you use a drimel type tool and a ball rasp bit to shape it.
