I bought the kapex last july and hadn't put it through the paces till the past two weeks on a sizable trim job in berkeley, CA.  I did use previously on a flooring job at my own house but that was pretty much all 90 degree cuts.  of course reading all the posts about scraping i was concerned.  i would move it on the miter scale back and forth ten time or so every now and then and no problem but after 9 days of all day trim cutting it happened, scraping like my ribs were being scraped with a kitchen knife.  called festool junkie whom in turn referred me to lester and he promptly sent the replacement kit which arrived today, will report back on the findings of the replacement, seems to be successful for others so i am hopeful.

Victor,

Just read your post.  Sorry you had this problem but it looks like you got one of the early builds.

I bought mine in November, 2008.  Played with it for about a week and then had the problem.  Festool Customer Service is first rate.  I had a replacement plate in a few days.

Have not had a problem since.  I hope you have the same good fortune.
