Had lots of problems with my 400 but this was not one of them ! How many issues can a model have ??
I really hope the 420 turns out to be better. I don't know I like the idea of having to get an Allen key & adjust the guides every time you change blades ! Festool managed to get away from that going from the Trion to the 400 but we saw how that ended up ! This to me is just a backwards step to try to keep everyone happy. Keep the Carvex & drop in the Trions blade guide system ! Or have I this all wrong ?

Thats the bit what I find most backwards is the Allen key!!! TS55 you store the Allen Key in the handle, The Kapex you store the Allen key on the back, The planer you store the Allen on the back of the base and other companies (bosch) have tool less auto adjustment guide system but a BRAND NEW 2012 jigsaw stores the Allen key in the box. Now to me thats is just completely and utterly stupid.

Im with you on this one JMB, I knocked the blasted little thing off the bench the other day and spent ages looking for it. I know, It should have been in its box. But I adjusted and put it down made the cut, caught it with the hose.... Come on all you creative guys and girls lets find a work-around for this lack of good design.

i am sure the real old makita use to have a very tough plastic Allen key holder that wrapped around the power cord, still not much good if you have a cordless jigsaw,
i am surprised there is not a holder on the baseplate on the 420 seeing as that was redesigned !! or will we see another version of the 420 with some sort of holder or another accessory? getting back on Luke's problem i never had an issue like yours with my 300 or 400 and hopefully not any with the 420 , fingers crossed.

Well I spoke to a dealer about the Carvex 400 and 420! He said festool said the Carvex 400 was crap. Sooo that says alot dont it! He did say but wasnt sure but the 420 stores the Alan key on the base! Can any one who owns the new 420 clarify?!
If so ill retract my previous comment!

No, nowhere I can see to store it - I have taken the base off and apart - but then Festool forgot to give me the allen key so I guess that solves the problem To be fair though, if you need the allen key its because you are changing the blade, so you just need a dedicated blade and allen key syssortainerrollerdockingcase.
